Happy Columbus Day!

Happy Columbus Day (a little early!)  Since we are out of school on Monday, we added a special activity to learn about Christopher Columbus.  Although there are many who say that he didn't really discover America, I think it is important to teach the children about him.  (After all there is a major holiday named after him.)  Here we are being the cutest explorers ever!!!  We made a fun sailing ship and these crazy hats to help us understand that explorers are so important to our world.  Christopher Columbus was brave enough to sail off from his country - without a real map, a tv, a cell phone or GPS...AND he made it safely to a brand new world.  Wonder where we would be today if he didn't have the courage to make this first journey across the "ocean blue in 1492.)  Explorers are neat people and you can "explore" anything.  There are explorers who find new medicines, and some who even fly off into space.  Who knows what these little explorers will grow up to be? Right now - they are just too cute.
