Donuts With Dads

We sure love our dads!!!!  AND we LOVE donuts!!!  So this week we had the best day ever... Donuts With Dads.  Thank you so much to our dads for bringing us to school early and enjoying breakfast with us.  We sure hope they love our fun little treats.. because our dads aren't stressed... they are blessed!!! And if you look at these pictures... we are all blessed! We love you dads!!!!

Penguin Party

Have you ever been to a penguin party?    If you haven't you can look at these little guys and see that it might be a little scary. ( The big eyes were just too cute for us not to use them.. )  BUT our penguin party was a blast.  We had so much fun playing with these friends in our classroom and think it was much more fun to use our imaginations than to really be outside in the arctic air.   BRRRRRRR... too cold.

Thank You Dr. King

Even though we are tiny little classroom in a very small preschool, we are learning that we are part of much larger world.  Of course we spend a lot of time talking about God's amazing love for all of us... no matter what we do or what we look like... but we also spend  a lot of time learning about those around us.  So as we prepared for the  Martin Luther King Jr. holiday we talked about what friendship really means.  We also talked about a super big word... "diversity."  I know that I really do dumb it down a lot, but I explain this by saying that "this word means we can all be friends... no matter what we look like, what we eat, what toys we have, where we live, what our favorite color is....IT means that the more different we are... the more fun we can have playing and learning together."  Sadly, as we enter the real world around us, it really isn't this easy.  So to celebrate for Martin Luther King Jr. holiday, we made some friendship drawings in all kinds of colors and it is my prayer that the little people in these drawings can help change this world by teaching others how to open their hearts and accept each other.  Thank you Dr. King for sharing this message with us.

Sleepy Bears?

All that snowman fun did have a purpose.... as I said, we spent our time back since the holidays learning about winter, hibernation, polar habitats, etc... Above you can see our totally sleepy hibernating bears.  I think the children did a great job with this learning activity and really LOVE seeing their artwork displayed as they go up the stairs to our classroom.  We've had so much rain and chilly weather around here lately, I think we could all use a little hibernation.

Full Lunar Eclipse... No Problem!!

Sooooo… anyone that has ever worked in or around a school...knows when a full moon is on it's way.  (And I'd be willing to bet this is true of any age school group.)  BUT!!!!! Look at us... we survived the craziness that came with that super giant winter moon.
Now... I will admit that the room was loud and much busier than usual... but overall... we made it through without going totally bananas.

A Day In The LIfe...

It was so busy in our classroom last week with the snowman madness..  I didn't have time to post any pictures... so here is what I like to call "a day in the life..." of our classroom.  We work and play and solve problems and do all kinds of other stuff.  I say it every year and it comes from the bottom of my heart... God is so AWESOME!!!!!  He brings together the perfect group of boys an girls to love each other and spend our year of preschool together growing in His love.  I really am the luckiest teacher in the world...(Mrs. Jenn and are so blessed to have this class family for this year.)

Sock Snowmen?

What could be more fun than having a snowman that won't melt and will be your friend forever?  Nothing really.... because there is nothing more magical than a snowman.  So here are our little guys, they look exactly the same... but each of them got their own personality as the children decorated them. Each child carefully selected a hat and scarf and honestly, took their time thinking of the perfect name for this perfect snow friend.
You can see by our faces that we absolutely loved this project.  We kept them with us all week in our classroom and used our imaginations as we played with them.  You can see they enjoyed snack... and making friends with everyone.  Now... I was smart enough to keep these little snow guys off the playground because it could have gotten way to crazy and resulted in the need for emergency repairs. There were lots of stories and excitement as these icy friends were leaving our classroom to go home with our boys and girls and some wanted to know if they had the same kind of magic as our Christmas Elf, Skittles.  This teacher deferred to the magic of childhood and said "you'll have to wait and see because snow magic is different than Christmas magic."  (The jury is still out on this one...)
