We Are Artisits

Our family art night was "the big reveal" for our artist inspired paintings.  Above you can see our version of a painting by Katsushika Hokusai.  It is called The Great Wave off Kanagawa.  The children did an amazing job and totally enjoyed thinking about waves when we completed this.  We especially liked painting with the shaving cream to add our sea foam.
And our second piece was inspired by Henri Matisse.  It is titled The Gold Fish.  This was a really fun piece to create because we had to create the background on the canvas first.  The gold fish bowl was added in stages and our favorite part was stamping our goldfish.  (I know our boys and girls are talented...but we can't take credit for these fancy fish.)
Mrs. Jenn and I hope everyone enjoys displaying our art at home.  It is always so much fun to watch our boys and girls create with paper and paint.  Who knows.... you may see one of students displayed in an art gallery one day!!!!

Happy 100th Day

We are OFFICIALLY 100 days smarter!!!!  We celebrated 100 days of preschool and it was awesome!  We finally got to add that 100th gumball....
We did a super fun math activity by counting by 10's....
 We made some festive hats...
We even did 100 exercises!!!
And best of all made a 100 cup tower....
Best 100th day EVER!!!!! AND BEST snack mix EVER!!!  A special shout out to a classmate and their mom  - they took the time to spell each child's name in cheese it crackers!!!!  Kindergarten here we come!!!  (well give us a few months.)

Caterpillars Are Here

Our caterpillars arrived about one week ago... we voted on names and are completely amazed by their growth!!!  Catty, Pillar, Butter & Lanny are growing much better than our carrots... which have made zero progress in the growth department.  It has been a fun science experiment to observe the process of both in our classroom.   We'll keep watching and posting as things develop, but as it stands, it looks like our carrots are going to make the transition to the discovery garden and we'll start new seeds soon.

A Taste Of Japan

Many thanks to Bonnie San and her daughter in law for taking the time to teach our boys and girls how to make sushi.  Our class did a great job preparing the sushi and some were even brave enough to taste it.  It is always so inspiring to try something new and our boys and girls did a great job learning more about Japanese culture today.

Our First Tooth Fairy Visit

Get ready parents!!! The Tooth Fairy made her visit of the year!!!!  We have our first two members of the "lost tooth" club and now everyone has the fever.  I do my best to explain that God makes our teeth wiggly at just the right time... but it was hard to convince any of our boys and girls today.  They were so excited!

Fun With Leprechauns

Leprechauns are so silly and sneaky!!!!  On Thursday we set a trap in our classroom and somehow missed that mischievous little guy when he stole on golden heart!!!  Can you see that he left us a note to say "tricked you?"  How in the world did he sneak into our room AND leave these little treats in the hall… while we were actually at the restroom?
I'm guessing our tiny green friend was impressed with our fabulous coloring and rainbow art work...

and our beautiful smiles... so he left those goodies as a treat for us being amazing learners!!!  (BUT.... this leprechaun was smart... he left instructions for the boys and girls to match upper and lower case letters to earn their pot of gold....)Happy St. Patrick's Day!!!

Paleontolgists At Work

We had an awesome week learning about dinosaurs!  We excavated some crazy dinosaur rocks, did an amazing dinosaur puzzle and put some dinosaur bones together just like a real paleontologist.  It's hard to believe that we are getting so close to graduation but we are learning so fast!!!
