"We're Not Tired"

Even after all of the fun of Spring Fling, we were not going to give up one minute of our playground time!  I know they would not want to admit it, but they were pretty tired from all of the playing they had done during the morning.  You can see one of us above that had fun pretending to sleep on the tunnel.  He said, "I'm not tired.  I am just pretending."  You just have to love the energy of a five year old!

Spring Fling

It was an awesome day for Spring Fling!  We had a blast!!!!!! Here we are enjoying all of our activities and having a wonderful day!  We had snow cones for snack and it started our day off just right!  It also ended just right with the release of our butterflies!  Goodbye R2Worm, Ryan & Sparkles!  We love you!  Many thanks to the parents who helped make this day so successful, we could not have done it without you!

Words That Start With S

We are so ready for kindergarten!  Just look at all of these words we thought of this week for the letter "s."  I am constantly amazed by your "smart" children.  (Yes, smart starts with "s.")  They are so excited to think of something new each day!

Learning Tools

We started learning about money last week.  Coins can be just a little confusing, so we decided to carry this over in to this week.  Here is our learning tool that you can use at home.  (It will come home in your Thursday folder.)  You can practice with our little coin sticks and even use them with this cool little reading book.
I know it seems like it is far away, but kindergarten will be here before you know it, and these skills will help your child.  To help us practice, we made a "store" for the prize bucket and will probably do it again this week.  No I don't really have children pay for their treat, but we do sort coins and identify them to get our "treat" from the prize bucket.  I hope that you enjoy these "theme" folders at home and are keeping them to help review skills over the summer.  I like to keep them in a basket  in our classroom for the children to use during center time.  They really do play with them and enjoy "reading" with their friends.

Sunny Sunflower Art

Here is our latest art project, inspired by the letter "s" and nature.  These are sunny sunflowers and they are so bright and cheerful.  If you happen to walk your child in for morning drop off, take a peek at your child's "collage" inspired sunflower.  The surprise is in the middle and we recycled a pine cone to be our "brown" center of our flower.  I think they are very pretty and will make anyone sing, "you are my sunshine, my only sunshine...."

Snacks That Start With S

It was a yummy day in our classroom and pretty healthy, if you ask me.  Our snack was a freshly picked strawberry, (just picked yesterday by two friends in our class), and rainbow sherbet.  This was just right for a day that warmed it very nicely for the playground.  Snacks that start with "s" taste great!

Pet Picture Show & Tell

We love pets in our classroom!  Most of the time, there are at least 10 different stories about pets each day and most of they time they make us giggle so much.  This week, we had "pet picture show & tell."  In the past, I have asked children to bring their real pet, at a scheduled time, to visit our classroom, but because of allergies and fears of animals...have found that the picture process is so much better.  We can love everybody's pet because their pictures are "so cute."  Here you can see our pictures and I can tell you it was a big deal.  We looked at the, passed them around, and told our favorite stories about them.  We had dogs, cats, hamsters, guinea pigs, one fish and one turtle.  (I have to admit I think the animals are most thankful that they don't have to visit our classroom.  We get so excited and hands go everywhere...so I hope our friends at home know how much we love them!)

We also made these cute little pets for our classroom.  Some of us made puppies and some of us made kittens.  These little paper pets were so much fun to make and not so messy to take care of...We are pretty sure that they won't leave our room in a mess over the weekend, but still can't wait to take them home!

Bluebirds

Here is a little art project inspired by the happy chirping of birds outside of our window.  We made these sweet bluebirds out of our hand prints.  They are just outside of our door and "chirp, chirp" as you hang up your bag in the morning.

Beautiful Weather

What a beautiful day?  Here we are on the playground enjoying God's blessing of the warm sunshine.  We always have so much fun running and playing and are always coming up with new games.  Happy Sunny Day and an even sunnier week!

Did You Ever Meet A "Peternarian?"

On Tuesday, we had a special community helper stop by our preschool...it was a veterinarian.  She is the mom of a friend in another class and she came to teach us about pet care and to talk about her job as an animal doctor.  I totally love that one of the children corrected me and said that she is really a "peternarian."  How clever and it makes sense, doesn't it.  She brought some x-rays of interesting injuries and yucky worms in jars  to teach us to keep our fingers out of our mouths and best of all....she brought her pet guinea pig, Sugar.  Thank you so much to this important community helper for taking the time to come in and see us.  We were full of questions and love animals so much!

A Visit From A Baby Duck

Oh my goodness, we really did have a precious baby duck come visit our classroom today!  It was a a little lost duck that one of our preschool moms was looking after and she brought it in to say, "hi."  Look at our faces- we just couldn't believe how soft and tiny this little duck was... and he didn't have a mom with him.  Thank you so much to Mrs. Lindsey for sharing this little "peeping" friend with us.  (PS - I had to post all of these pictures because everyone was too cute when they were holding our little friend.)
