Are You A "Bucket Filler"?

As we continue our journey into preschool, (it is only day number 5), today we learned what it means to be a "bucket filler."  We read Have You Filled A Bucket Today? by Carol McCloud.  It is going to be a year long process to really understand what it means to "fill" or "dip" into a bucket.  We also finished our class pledge for the year... which, too, will be year long process. So if you hear your little one talking about being a "bucket dipper" or a "bucket filler", this is where they heard that catchy phrase.  Our goal is to keep our own bucket filled to the top by helping others and making good choices... which in turn... fills our friend's buckets too.

School Is Fun!

Trying to get a few minutes to snap pictures was hard work today.  Everyone was so excited that we were finishing our first week of preschool - it made for an extra busy day.  There is so much to see and do and learn....the children were relieved to know that we have over 100 more days to help our brains grow.  I know there are lots of strange reports coming home from our classroom about silly songs and dancing... but hey.... we make our classroom lots of fun.  Thank you for a wonderful first week of preschool!  There is so much more to come.

First Week's Work

Just a few things from our first week of school.  We made a really cool book about school and did the illustrations.  (Yes, I know some of it is stamping.... but it is our very own work.... and we are PROUD!!!!)
We also heard lots of different books and made these really cute mice inspired by If You Take A Mouse To School by Laura Numeroff.  We did our own cutting and gluing... and had lots of fun talking about what really might happen if we brought a mouse to our preschool.  Most of us said, he would eat our lunch... but take a minute to check these out as you come in on Monday morning, some of the response might make you smile.

Popsicles!

You heard we were having popsicles.... and you heard right.  Since it has been so hot and our class has been so totally fabulous.... it was "Popsicle Thursday."  These were "swirly, twirly" popsicles and they were delicious.  Everyone did a great job eating with no sticky messes.  Happy Popsicle Thursday!

Making Friends

Here we are....look at our beautiful faces!  It's our first week of school and we're just finding our way, but I LOVE the smiles!!!!  It will take some time to learn our routine and schedule, but no matter what..... it is going to be fun!
Just a few pictures to peek into our classroom.  We're new to this room, so we are in the process of getting to know everyone, but right now we're just exploring centers.  Your child might sing some silly songs or tell you that our "brains need to work to grow" but whatever it is -  we just want all of our friends to enjoy coming to school.
Thank you God for this preschool year and thank you for our new friends!!!!

First Day!!!

It came and went.... and it was AWESOME!!!!
Our Dr. Seuss' trees really started the year off right.... "Oh the places you'll go...." because from where we are all standing.... the sky is the limit!  Our halls were empty, but we were ready to get started... even our center tags were waiting to tell us where to go....
And then it happened.... we all made it to preschool and found our way into our pockets to tell us we were present and ready to make new friends!!!
Our totally cool school bags were all hanging in the hall like awesome Christmas stockings.  Soon we'll have a bag show & tell to show off our fancy decorations, but to get us started we listened to some great books and had a wonderful day!  Thank you God for this special group of boys of girls!
(And PS - Thank goodness no one rode their elephant to school..... we learned that this could be pretty complicated and messy.)
