Thanks For A Great Night At Sonic!

Many thanks to everyone who came out for Sonic Night.  Although the teachers weren't wearing skates, we had a great time seeing all of our families and enjoying some yummy treats!  Here is "Mustard" and "Hot Dog" who stopped by our preschool yesterday to remind us about our Sonic Night.  They made everybody smile!  Thanks Sonic for supporting Pilgrim Community Preschool!

Just Another Sunny Day

"Sunny, sunny, sunny, sunny...It is sunny in the sky.  S-U-N-N-Y, sunny, it is sunny in the sky. "  Our favorite weather day song!  It was so beautiful on the playground.  Even with the pollen everywhere, you could hear joy in the air as the children just had fun running and playing.  These are action shots of our time on the playground.  Every time I take these pictures I cherish the innocence of childhood and the fun of "real play."  Not video games, or television, or movies...just finding fun with friends and inventing games to play.  Even tag is the "best" on some days.  I hope you get inspired today to enjoy the sun and share some play time with your child outside.  God is so good to all of us!  Thanks Be To God!

Magic Show

 I
If you didn't hear about it already, we had a real magic show at school!  Yes a real magician took a few minutes to stop by our school and share some of his "magician skills" with the four year old classes.  Here you see some of us watching with the utmost attention and some of us actually helping with tricks.  It was so much fun. I think you could have heard a pin drop because the children were so excited to see what he was going to do next.  He made sponges disappear, a card reappear, ropes reattach and a bunny magically appear in a covered dish.  Now there were some silly tricks too, but it was all in good fun.  Thanks so much to this friend who came by to teach us about magic and to help us understand that the library is a great place to explore his tricks.

Helper Friends

Sometimes we volunteer to help just because we want to.  These two friends, without being asked, hopped up to clean up a mess that they didn't make.  While we were getting ready for lunch, they noticed that a center had not been put away and they took it upon themselves to help.  Thanks so much helper friends for working together to keep our class running smoothly.  We are all good helpers in our class, I just happened to have my camera ready to catch them with these beautiful smiles.  I think this picture would be appropriately titled "cheerful hearts," don't you?

Catch of The Day!

This was our other big event of the weekend.  Marshall had the biggest catch of his life.  He is our avid fisherman (the word "avid" just doesn't do his love of fishing justice) and today he caught a 10 pound bass.  He was so excited.  He spends so much time sitting at the pond and casting his reel.  I know that he truly loves fishing because even when the conditions aren't perfect, he sits patiently.  For all of the mothers in the world that have been blessed with a son...this is what it is all about.  Congratulations Marshall!

Blue & Gold

It is official.  My little Cub Scout is now a Boy Scout.  His pack had the Blue & Gold Banquet on Saturday and he completed the Arrow of Light ceremony.  We are very proud of Emerson and his commitment to the scouting program. Even though he is still my sweet little boy, he is learning to make responsible decisions and growing up to "do a good turn daily."  It sounds so simple and if we all just did this one little thing our world would be such a better place.  Congratulations Emerson!

Fun Pictures From Our Week

Fun times from our week.  The playground was perfect and our classroom has been buzzing with excitement.  We are trying so many new things, especially new puzzles and building with our Lincoln logs.  Every day we get just a little bit closer to the end of our year and the excitement of kindergarten.

We Are 100 Days Smarter

Hip, Hip, Hooray...It is our 100th day of school!   And yes we are definitely 100 days smarter!!!!  We have been adding one ring to our counting caterpillar every day and coloring in one little square on our chart to make it to 100!!!!  (This day seemed like forever when we started school way back in August.)  To celebrate, we made our "100 Day Mega Snack Mix" and had lots of fun with the other four year old students doing the 100 yard dash and 100 exercises!!!
It was really busy but very exciting to reach this milestone in our school year.  Here we are wearing our party hats and looking so much older than our first class pictures.

Say cheese and make a 100th day "crazy face."  It was a great day and we are so proud of being such good learners!

One Happy Camper

Well, here is my happy camper from this weekend!  It is hard for a mom to hear, but he just didn't miss me or need me.  You can only imagine his stories about learning new skills and see some of the grime on his face but he made it. This is what growing up looks like for our family.  Thank you to the scouting program for giving him this opportunity.

Cross Over

For those of you who are not familiar with Scouting, Emerson had his Cross Over ceremony last night and we are so proud of him.  This is big deal for our family, because he is no longer a Webelo and made the transition to being a Boy Scout.  It was a beautiful ceremony done at the lake just as the sun started to set.  Each boy extinguished his torch on the Webelo side and lit a new one on the Boy Scout side.  It sounds silly but, this program puts emphasis on independence, good decision making, and respectfulness...(and so much more.)  You can see my Boy Scout standing in front of his tent for his very first camp out without mom or dad!  He is so proud and ready, but I am not sure about us.  Growing up happens so fast these day.  As an aside, we also got to watch an Eagle Scout Ceremony immediately after the Cross Over.  How amazing for a young man to make a commitment and follow through, especially with the demands of school and everything else in life.  The Scouting program can be so amazing if it is the right fit for your child.

Sunny Playtime

Just some fun pictures of the playground.  Sunny days are the best and we always take a few minutes to thank God for his gift of perfect playground weather.  Smiling faces and St. Patrick's Day fun made for a wonderful Thursday.
