Polar Express Pajama Day

It was a magical day at the preschool .... our last day before the Christmas holidays... and it was "Polar Express Pajama Day."  Who cares if it was a little rainy?  We didn't mind one bit because we were boarding the Polar Express for a journey to the North Pole.   (Complete with chocolate milk.... the hot chocolate thing gets a little crazy sometimes.)  We loved listening to Mrs. Cary read the book and we loved pretending that we were on our way to the North Pole... to see Santa!!!!!

We had a wonderful time playing together and we got more and more excited as the day progressed.  We have been counting down the days until Christmas and the arrival of Baby Jesus in the manger.  Merry Almost Christmas Everyone!!!  See you in 2016!!!!

Classroom Fun

Rudolph, the Elf, was busy during the weeks of December hiding in crazy places in our classroom.... (Even in the gumball machine we use to help us count to 100.)  We have been pretty confident that the reports to Santa have been A+ because we have been working really hard.
A friend, wearing her totally precious "Mrs. Claus" dress...
Doing our very best at cleaning up....
Showing our best behavior to get to "the stars" and reading books together....
PLUS dancing to a crazy show & tell from a friend!!!!  It had lots of fun Christmas things to act out.
WE LOVE Christmas in our classroom!!!!

A Visit From Mrs. Claus

What?  Mrs. Claus came to our preschool!!!  Yes!!! She really did!  She came right into our classroom and read us a book.  She knew all of our names and even asked us what we want for Christmas!!!!  It was totally awesome.  And after that.... we had a picnic lunch with the other four year old class.  (We learned in a Fancy Nancy book that eating outside is also called "al fresco.")  Best day ever!!!!

Waiting At The Manger

This picture says it all.... waiting at the manger.  We are getting ready for this empty manger to be a comfy bed for baby Jesus.  He will be here soon!

Our Christmas Program

What a wonderful night?  We did such an amazing job with our Christmas program... I mean that whole thing is terrifying, but our boys and girls let their lights shine!!!!  We said our prayers to do our best and I hope everyone enjoyed every minute of our singing and best "standing still" behavior.  An Early Merry Christmas to you all... but don't forget that we do have one more week of school.

Paintings of Santa

Our artists have been hard at work doing many fun holiday projects... but this one is my favorite.  (yes, I always say that.)  We did paintings of Santa and they all turned out so wonderful. These boys and girls are in the holiday spirit and this one makes you say "ho, ho, ho!!! Merry Christmas!"

A Visit From Sinterklaas...

What a cool thing?  Sinterklaas came to visit us from Holland!!  We made these paper shoes to leave out in the hall along with our real shoes and while we were practicing for our Christmas program, he made a surprise visit to our preschool!!!!  We must be doing extra good because that was a very long way for him to come on his horse.   Thank you Sinterklaas for this fun treat!!!

On The Moon

What a totally great, fabulous, awesome day!!!!  WE know Rudolph was excited to be with us in our classroom. (and that he will give Santa a great report.)  Everyone made it to the stars and some of us even jumped to the "moon."  There was so much hard work in our room that the boys and girls deserved to go even higher.  Thank you boys and girls for such a wonderful day!

It's Beginning To Feel Like Christmas

There is something special about a chilly day on the playground.... especially when it is the beginning of December.  There is an air of excitement and the children are full of anticipation of the holidays that are just around the corner.  Don't we look all warm and snuggly in our coats and sweaters? Sometimes it is more fun to show off our winter apparel and put it to good use when we are running and playing.  We love our playground either way!!!

Our Christmas Tree Lighting

To welcome December our preschool put up a Christmas tree and had a special tree lighting.  It was very sweet and whole lot more comfortable than the big tree lightings that happen around us.  We all took a seat and listened to our blessing of the Christmas tree and were excited to countdown to turn on the lights.  It was also really fun to see all of the ornaments each class made to put on our tree.  What a way to get our preschool ready for the holidays.  "Oh Christmas Tree, Oh Christmas Tree...."

Crazy Christmas Snack

Sometimes we go off the healthy train and enjoy something really tasty and fun.... like this cereal!!  It was a silly treat to get us in the Christmas spirit and boy did it work...(although we all know it was just the sugar.)  We looked at the Christmas shapes mixed in with the cereal and talked about what it means to enjoy "not so good" for you treats in moderation.  We ate just a small amount at snack and thought this might even be a fun little treat to leave out for Santa to give him a super energy boost to get him through his deliveries on Christmas night.

Meet Rudoloph

We had a Christmas elf join our class for the holiday season...The children were so excited to see that Santa sometimes sends an elf to school too - just to remind us to do our very best.  We read the little note that accompanied him and, after thoughtful consideration, named him Rudolph.  Yes we used the democratic process and everyone suggested names, like Princess and Elvis, but after we voted... He got the name of Rudolph.  Welcome to Pilgrim Preschool Rudolph Elf.... it is going to be busy place to be.

Happy Early Thanksgiving to everyone!  Today was our annual class feast and it was wonderful!  We had lots of fun in our classroom as we prepared for our parents to come back to dine with us and we even made some homemade butter.  We practiced our songs and did a tiny bit of work.  It was such an exciting day.  WE love seeing our preschool families and we love sharing God's love.  Everyone did a great job singing and tasting new things.  Thank you to our mom that made the wonderful dessert treats and to all of our families who helped to make this feast all come together.  What a special way to start our Thanksgiving holidays!  We pray that everyone travels safely and enjoys time with their families.
