How We Learn...

It is hard to forget that these boys and girls are in preschool.  They are so smart and work so hard.  It might be easy to take steps to push them forward to early but in our classroom, we learn a lot from playing together.  We explore books, we send get well wishes to sick classmates...
We practice fine motor skills and letter sounds with some table activities....
We even work hard at our art center...
We practice engineering skills with blocks...
and do some review letter practice... just for fun!!!
And we solve puzzles.  It's just how we learn in our preschool classroom.  God is so awesome in His love for us that He brought us together this year to get ready for kindergarten.

Chapel With Bonnie San

Just to share a picture from chapel... many thanks to the staff of Pilgrim Lutheran Church for making our Christian Education a priority for our boys and girls.  We love this special time together to hear God's word and sing some special songs.

Super Heroes In Training

Do you recognize these super heroes?  They are amazing boys and girls who worked really hard to get ready for our "Super Hero Breakfast" with our dads.  We made some pretty awesome treats for our dads and had a blast enjoying a special breakfast with them before school.
Thank you to our favorite super heroes (our dads) for coming to this special event and loving us so much!!!!

Cooking In Our Classroom

So... I have learned that these boys and girls have the kind of memory that an elephant does..... they do NOT forget one thing I say.  During our week of Fairy Tales, that got interrupted by our "snow event," we had planned to make "pigs in the blanket."  (You know for the Three Little Pigs.)  We unfortunately did not get to this project because, upon our return, we moved on to our next unit.  However- these 12 amazing children did not forget the details of this cooking project -  because they really love to cook.  Every day since we returned, at least one of them asked "hey Mrs. Laura... did you forget about the pigs in the blanket?"  So what is a preschool teacher to do?  Of course... figure out how to adjust lesson plans to include this project... thus we have "rocket dogs."
Please do not judge me for the silliness of this project... but they absolutely LOVED it.  They helped make the list of ingredients, identified the steps to prepare them, assisted in the preparation and enjoyed the finished project.  We totally enjoy any opportunity to cook and our super proud that we can help.

Back At It ....

With our hiccup of missed days last week, we finally got back on track.  We had to pick up some missed alphabet activities and had to talk about what is in front of us for the rest of the year... like getting ready for kindergarten!  We also continued to talk about how to stay healthy with all of the flu around us and have been saying our prayers every day that our class stays well.  (Sounds like a lot... and it is... but we are so smart!!!)  Look at these precious faces ... they make this best job ever!
And I had to include our one day of fun from last week.... we read Goldilocks and the Three Bears....and made this cute baby bear.  We did some awesome cutting to make this little guy and had fun talking about where Goldilocks ran after she got out of the bears' house.  Due to our missed days we had to skip our days learning about fairy tales, but are hoping to make these up in the next few weeks.  Our class is so much fun to teach and they LOVE learning.
