A Real Student Teacher

We had a visit from another former student.  She was in our class last year and came in to visit with us.  It is always surprising to see how much the boys and girls listen to a real "kindergarten" student vs. me  (the teacher).  She helped them with their letters and numbers and told them how important it is to try your best.  Thank you to this friend for coming by to say Hello!

A Happy Sad Day

It was a happy and sad day for us.... two of our friends are moving away... FAR away.  We are really going to miss them.  It was a sad day first because we will miss them, but happy because they are starting a new adventure and they will be within driving distance of their grandparents.  We had a really good day playing with these friends and had a pizza party to send them off.  God's prayers and peace to their family as they begin this new chapter in their lives.

Feast Day

Feast Day!!!  What a wonderful way to begin our Thanksgiving week... all of four year old friends attended with their families and we shared a meal.  It was just a "taste" of Thanksgiving, but it was fun... and the yummy tee pee desserts were delicious!!!!!  We came together dressed as Native Americans and Pilgrims and shared our friendship with each other.  Many thanks to all who took the time to come to this special event and we missed those who could not be with us.  It was also a super fun day for our boys and girls because they took all of their work home too.  The preparation for our feast has taken weeks and we have all waited patiently to bring it all home to share with our family.  Thank you God for these special children and their families.  Have a safe and blessed Thanksgiving.

Thankful Tuesday

I'm apologizing up front for so few posts...but we are in our busiest time at the preschool!!! HOW DID IT GET TO BE THANKSGIVING????  We are working so hard in our classroom learning that I rarely have time to grab my camera!!!  So this is today... look at these faces.  You can almost feel the energy in the photos.  Our classroom is bubbling with excitement as we work on our feast preparations.  We have been learning about the Native Americans and have just started talking about the Pilgrim's long journey on the Mayflower.  I know it is greatly watered down at this age, but we work hard to teach our boys and girls that this was a time when two totally different groups of people came together as friends.  So below you see a couple of our classmates with their "wampum" bags.  Ours are made of paper bags not animal skin.... and they are filled with nature's treasures like sea shells, feathers, and leaves... but they are pretty cool.  I can only imagine how this gets translated to your home... but we are having an amazing time learning about this special time in history.  Stay tuned for information about the Mayflower... no bathrooms, no beds... and NO TOYS!!!  Now that is something to talk about!

The Feast Is Coming!

It's almost here... our four year old class feast!  It is a wonderful time for families to come together to fellowship and have some Thanksgiving fun!

Preschoolers Vote Too!!!

It came and went during the week of Halloween candy overload... but we really did have a preschool election.  And YES... this was my kind of election.  There was no campaigning or ugliness - just a choice between chicken nuggets and pizza. (And either way... it was a win for me because I LOVE them both.)  Mr. Andy came up and read us some books about voting and explained how our preschool election would be done.  Then each of the four year old classes took a turn at the voting booth and made their choice.  (YES with a quill.)  Our class went the extra mile and recited their home address before being allowed to enter the voting booth.  (Woo Hoo to our smart boys and girls!)  Then each child voted in privacy and got their "I Voted" sticker.

Overall this was a very fun voting day for us... unfortunately "grown up" voting never gets the thumbs up no matter who wins.  These boys and girls did a great job and the results... Chicken nuggets 16... pizza 15. I think this was an awesome way to introduce the election process to our boys and girls... now to convince the office that the four year old students need to be rewarded with a chicken nugget lunch.
