Waiting Patiently

Little faces looking into the manger, waiting for the arrival of Baby Jesus.  Waiting so patiently for his birth on Christmas.  "Silent night, holy night.  All is calm, all is bright..."

Meet Senator Shealy

We also had another special guest reader.  This is Senator Katrina Shealy and she came by to say "hi."  She is pictured with a friend from another class and that is why his face is covered with a heart. (I only have permission to use photos of our class on this blog.)  Senator Shealy is a community helper and she talked to us about her new job working for the people of South Carolina.  She also brought two books to donate to our school and even read one out loud.  Thank you so much Senator Shealy for taking time from your busy schedule to stop by and meet us.

Our Christmas Party

Christmas Party day has come and gone and everyone is enjoying some well deserved "down time."  Here are some quick pictures from our party and I just have to thank all of the parents who helped make this day so special.  Our class was very well behaved and I was so proud of them.  The first pictures are from our "build a snowman" game.  Three brave children from our class let the other friends dress them up like "snow people" complete with a hat and scarf.  What fun!!!  If you can't have a real snowman, this is the next best thing.  It was a great day and I wish everyone a very safe & happy holiday season!

Meet Pete

We had a special guest reader!  Can anyone guess who she is?  This is my sister, Laney, but everyone calls her "Pete."  (A nickname bestowed upon her by my boys when they were first learning to talk.)  She had little time off from her job and wanted to come and meet our class.  (Isn't she cute!!!!)  She stopped by to read a book given to us by Senator Katrina Shealy, called Pete the Cat: Rocking In My School Shoes.  It was a very fun visit and she even gave us a treat for being such good listeners!  Thanks so much to Pete for stopping by to wish us a Merry Christmas!!!

Another Delivery From The North Pole

Another friend got a package from the North Pole!!!  You can see the super shiny envelope that it came in and our friend said that it was as shiny as Rudolph's nose.  Now I changed the pictures so that you can't read the letters that he got because Santa & Rudolph wouldn't want everyone to see our friend's Christmas list, but you can see that he got signed letters from both of them AND a certificate for being on the NICE LIST!  How fun for everyone in our class to see.  We have a funny feeling that Shaun has been working super hard reporting back to the North Pole and that Santa is sending these letters to remind everyone to keep up the good work.

Pajama Day

Okay I know there a lot of pictures, but it was pajama day.  Yes, we wore our pajamas to school and it was so much fun!!!  Haven't you ever worn your pajamas to work?  Well, I guess that is just another benefit of working at our fabulous preschool.  You can see from our pictures that we had a great day and even got to go to the playground.  (That was the best part of our whole day... probably the best part of our school year so far.)  We played on the slide, the monkey bars and ran pretty much everywhere.  God was especially good to us because the temperature was just right and the sun was shining brightly.  Happy Pajama Day 2012!

An Update On Shaun

Shaun, our elf, has been busy.  He has been moving around in our classroom and we have the best time looking for him each morning.  Well, by the looks of his resting spot, we think he made it back from the North Pole just in time for school.  He can be so silly, but we sure are happy that he has been watching over our class.  We have been doing our best work and using our best manners.

What Is An Ewok?

Our friend wrote his own book!!!  Here he is with one of the books that he wrote at home. (His father told me that there are many more in this series at their house.)   Of course, if you are ever in our classroom for more than 5 seconds, you KNOW that we love anything that has to do with Star Wars. We especially loved his sticker illustrations.  Thank you to this friend for sharing his book with our class.  (and teaching us about Ewoks.)

This Little Light Of Mine....

"This little light of mine.  I'm gonna let it shine.  This little light of mine.  I'm gonna let it shine, let it shine, let it shine, let it shine!!!!!!"  When there is darkness in the world around us, remember that you have God's light in your heart.  Use it to show others the way and to glorify His name.  Never underestimate the power of your one light. It can remind or inspire others to let their light shine too.  "In the same way, let your light shine before others that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in Heaven."  Matthew 5:15

A Message From The North Pole

A friend in our class got a real letter from the North Pole!!!!!  (See the picture of Santa!)  It is a real letter and it even had Santa money in it.  The friends in our class couldn't believe it so he was nice enough to pass it around and let everyone touch it.  I guess that Santa got the letters we wrote last week and our friend was lucky enough for Santa to write back.  Thank you so much to this friend for sharing his surprise mail with us.

St. Lucia Day

Happy St. Lucia Day!  Here are our beautiful girls in their "candle crowns."  They helped at lunch by serving the boys their yummy sweet roll treat.  This is a holiday tradition from Sweden and we loved having this special helping job in our classroom.

Another Lunchbox Surprise!!!

Yeah! Another fun note from home found just in time to make another day special.  We love little treats in our lunch boxes!  The children get so excited for their friends and everyone has to try and read it!  What a wonderful surprise!

December Fun

Could December be more fun?  It is the month of Baby Jesus' birthday and a visit from Santa...but look at us...we are having even more fun!!!!  Here we are on the playground and in our classroom.  These smiles are everywhere and we thank God for healthy and happy children!!!!

Another Alumni Visit

Here is another beautiful alumni!  She stopped by last night after helping her mom with the Christmas Program.  She has also grown into such a wonderful young lady and I am so happy that she stopped by to visit.  (I know that her mom also appreciates her help last night with the two year old students in her class!  If my class was excited, I can only imagine what was going on downstairs.)

The Christmas Program

You can guess from these pictures that we had our Christmas Program.  Although it was short and sweet, believe me it took a lot of work.  With all of the excitement in the air, learning two songs is truly like teaching chemical equations.  Factor in standing on the risers, the other four year old students, and a ton of parents watching...it can be a tiny bit overwhelming!  So here we are looking so beautiful and handsome and I think that we did a great job!  You can also see a former student with her handsome little brother and another sister who was nice enough to let me take her picture for our letter of the week next week.  Thank you parents for supporting our preschool.  I know that you can feel God's love in everything that we do and we thank Him for His many blessings in our lives.  Your children certainly embody His love and share it with us everyday!  I will post videos of our class singing the songs next week.  Meanwhile, these pictures should make you smile and put you in the Christmas Spirit!
