Guest Reader

We had a surprise visitor in our classroom today.  This is a graduate who came back to read a book to us at lunch.  (And guess what???? She is only FIVE!!!!)  Our class was so amazed by her reading and we were so happy that she came by to visit with us today.  Thank you friend for showing us that we really do learn to read in kindergarten.

Dental Health Is Important

Thank you Palmetto Smiles for sending Ms. Heather and Mr. Bananas over to visit our preschool.  We have been learning about heart health and dental health this week and totally enjoyed this presentation.

Our Artists

Here it is.... our awesome ART!!!!  These boys and girls did such a wonderful job on our art projects for family night.  They were so proud and I was amazed at their focus when creating these pieces inspired by Ted Harrison and Georgia O'Keefe.  These artists cannot wait for these to come home!!

A Totally Awesome Wednesday... Even With The Clouds

It was dreary... but we dashed outside for our playground time.  The gray clouds didn't keep us indoors.  We enjoyed God's beautiful creation ... even if He gave us a few clouds and a little bit of wind.  And then to make our day even better, a special community helper stopped by to say hi!

Officer Brian came by to help us learn the many ways that police officers help in our community.  He let us take a look in his police car and promised to come back with his helper... a police doggie.  Thank you so much to Officer Brian for taking the time to stop by and visit with us... AND for the cool stickers!!!

A Perfect Day

It was a perfect day!!!  Look at this beautiful Bradford Pear in full bloom right beside our playground.  We have totally enjoyed watching it change from summer to fall... then fall to winter and NOW almost Spring.  We told this tree to slow down because it is still winter, but it just went right ahead and bloomed.  And the last picture is our team of collaborative builders.  WE all worked together to make this crazy creation.  It was wonderful to watch them figure this out.  It was not an assigned project, they just all wanted to play with these manipulatives and decided that if they all worked together it would be even more fun!!!   God at work... right in our classroom.  Absolutely growing in HIS love!  Thank you God for these beautiful boys and girls!!!

Other Fun Happenings....

Just some other fun happenings in our classroom.... above you see a special lunch guest that stopped in to surprise a classmate!  He joined us for lunch and it was totally awesome!!!
We continue to find new ways to play in our classroom ...
We had chapel with our new Pastor... and he sang some super fun songs.
We continued our journey into Lent... (or as we call it.... the saddest part of the story of Jesus.) and we started to cover that sad cross with our love.  We used our best estimation skills to guess that we will absolutely cover up those black handprints with our hearts before Easter gets here.
We continue to be best friends and bucket fillers by sharing God's love with our brightest smiles....
And really.... we just totally love all being together on our playground....
You can see the engineering team that built this awesome structure with blocks, legos and whatever else they could add... like our felt boards...  They never actually said what the felt boards were for...so I'm gonna say green space and possibly a swimming pool.
We also continued to feel our brains grow! Here is our crazy, amazing list of words that we "brain stormed" during the week.  (okay... I know petunia is on the list twice... my mistake.. but the children were all talking so fast... I got carried away.)  This activity was so much fun and the children were beyond excited to think of new words to add each day!!!  (YES... WE ARE REALLY THAT SMART!)
And finally... just a few class pictures to celebrate the end of our week  We had a great week with everyone feeling awesome and the flu out of our classroom!!!  Thanks be to God for these amazing children!  He is truly an AWESOME GOD!

Future Presidents!

President's Day came and went, but I am still catching up from my flu delay.  I had to put these adorable photos on the blog... can't you see why!!!  Any of these cuties could grow up to be our President and I am totally okay with that.  We all know how important it is to be a bucket filler and to always do our best - however, in these pictures we pretty much are doing our best to show our silly side.  And you know in this world we live in today, who doesn't need some silliness.  Hope you had a great President's Day.

Artists At Work

Family Art Night is coming up and our class has been hard at work.  Each class at the preschool was tasked with finding an artist to inspire us.  We chose a painting by Georgia O'Keefe.  (And please remember the word "inspired.")  We looked at the painting and did our best to think of all the steps to paint a similar type of flower.  Here you see our stages of work... First we painted our background....Then we carefully painted the outline of the petals.  (Okay... I did have to help a little bit with this part by providing a very light pattern on the canvas.  And that really was it.  I refrained from freshening up any unconnected lines or missed areas.)
Then we filled in our petals with a bright poppy red paint. And I think we did a super job staying in the outline of our petals.
Then we added some areas of yellow for shading.   Of course at the very end of an art project the artist must sign their name... so you see this friend taking his time to get his "signature" just right.  These paintings will be on display Tuesday night and the children are very proud.  It took several sessions to get these completed and we think they are beautiful.  We thank Georgia O'Keefe for her beautiful art and making our world a prettier place.
