Family Art Night is coming up and our class has been hard at work. Each class at the preschool was tasked with finding an artist to inspire us. We chose a painting by Georgia O'Keefe. (And please remember the word "inspired.") We looked at the painting and did our best to think of all the steps to paint a similar type of flower. Here you see our stages of work... First we painted our background....Then we carefully painted the outline of the petals. (Okay... I did have to help a little bit with this part by providing a very light pattern on the canvas. And that really was it. I refrained from freshening up any unconnected lines or missed areas.)
Then we filled in our petals with a bright poppy red paint. And I think we did a super job staying in the outline of our petals.
Then we added some areas of yellow for shading. Of course at the very end of an art project the artist must sign their name... so you see this friend taking his time to get his "signature" just right. These paintings will be on display Tuesday night and the children are very proud. It took several sessions to get these completed and we think they are beautiful. We thank Georgia O'Keefe for her beautiful art and making our world a prettier place.
