Happy Halloween!

It is finally here!  Halloween!  The day that we can dress up and have fun sharing with each other.  We have been practicing our "trick or treat" manners and thinking about all of the treats we might get. Of course our number one job is to be the best "bucket fillers" we can because it is our night to let God's light shine!  (Just like the light in the pumpkin.)  We carved the pumpkin in our classroom that we cleaned last week.  You can see that we didn't do a face at all ...we just decided on a simple cross.  This reminds us that God is always in our heart and that there is never a reason to be scared....even on Halloween.  He is with us and takes good care of us.
We also made a really funny book about colors and the fun friends that we see around Halloween.  Have fun reading this little book together and praise your child for "booing" their best work.  Happy Halloween!

Day 3 of Show & Tell

It was our last day of show & tell for the week.  We had some more cool things that our friends shared.  We had another princess doll, a race car, a Barbie, a tiny kitty and a REAL seahorse!  Thank you boys and girls for doing a great job this week sharing with our class and listening to each other!

More Show & Tell

More show & tell....you can tell how much fun it is just by looking at these smiles!!!!!  I love how the children bringing in show & tell and our classmates enjoy this.  No one is jealous or negative...they all love each other's toys.  Tuesday had a Rapunzel doll, a totally cute big eyed raccoon, a spider man web shooter, a police car and some precious hot pink Minnie Mouse ears.  Show & tell continues ...so stay tuned for more super fun treats from home.  (Then just a "teaser"....Halloween fun!  In case you didn't know - Thursday is Halloween!!!!  We are so excited!!!!)

Letter Review

This is our week to review the letters that we have learned about.  We are practicing our writing skills and had lots of fun with the letter maze on the rug.  We hopped along saying the names as we passed.  I think the children are surprised at how much they have learned and even more surprised that this rug does much more than provide a place to listen at "circle time."  You can learn anywhere and it is fun!  We are so smart and are learning so much every day!

Best Work

Doesn't it feel great when you do your best work?  Here are some of our students with their best work!  They did great coloring and cutting and really took their time... so here is a little shout out to these two young ladies!!! Way to Go!!!!

Do You Know How A Pumpkin Grows?

Did your child teach you about how a pumpkin grows?  We had fun with this learning project and used our pumpkins from the pumpkin patch to help us.  We saw the stem that attaches the pumpkin to the vine and even carved a pumpkin to see the gooey seeds that were inside.  Of course we also had fun decorating our small pumpkins to take home for Halloween.  They were very simple and the stickers are easy to remove because our class has big plans for these little guys when they get home.  So many ideas about how to paint or carve our pumpkins, so we decided it would be best to let everyone do their custom design at home.

Our Daily Schedule

This wall is cluttered but it is probably the most important place in our classroom.  This is our daily schedule and it keeps us on track.  The children LOVE being able to manage their day.  We move the clothespin down as we move through our day and it  helps our class know what comes next.  It also helps us feel better when we might be missing our moms more than usual.  This is the first step to learning to manage time and we are really good at it.  Sometimes the children remind me to move it down.  See how much we learn at preschool?  We are learning to organize our day even though this teacher could use a little more help in that department.  (There is just so much that I want to do!!!!)

Show & Tell

It was our first day of show & tell!!!!  We were so excited to share with our class and so excited to see what our friends brought to school.  It was a fun day with special stuffed animals and a Transformer.  Stay tuned for day 2....

Picture Day & Pumpkin Day! Are You Serious?

What a gorgeous day for pictures!!!! God sure is good and He knows just what we need.  Perfect sunlight and a fall crispness that brings out the best smile in a picture.  Here is a sneak peek at the pictures your photographers took today.  I did my best to stand back so I would not distract the children, but they sure looked precious from my point of view.  Our backdrop was the school pumpkin patch and it was just right for today. Here are our boys, looking so handsome!

And here are our girls, looking beautiful.
Now for the surprise!  The children got to pick their very own pumpkin to take back to our classroom for next week's Halloween festivities.  They were full of excitement and could not wait to get them upstairs.  Ideas are flying about the perfect way to decorate these orange cuties, but we will just have to wait and see.  We will use them to weigh and measure and then decorate them for the journey home.  Oh the possibilities!!!! They are endless.
This was our pumpkin parade as we walked back to our classroom.  We used our muscles and did a good deed by helping our two year old class by carrying their pumpkins back too.  What a fabulous day!  When we got them upstairs, we had to arrange them from smallest to biggest - just to see how long the"pumpkin train" would be.  Oh my - these next few days are going to be super busy!
Happy Picture Day 2013!  We are so perfectly precious!  Have a happy pumpkin patch & picture day!!!!!

Spookley's Pumpkin Patch

If you haven't heard of Spookley, don't feel bad.  It is a little known story about a square pumpkin and how he saves the day.  He is a square pumpkin, yes I said square, and he helps his friends when they are in danger.  We LOVE this story, especially since Spookley is being a "bucket filler."  (Our class is really into being bucket fillers.)  You can see our own little pumpkin patch as you walk up the stairs to our classroom.  We made our pumpkins all kinds of shapes and colors and made a fun little scarecrow to help watch over them.  Take a minute to check out another one of our fun fall art projects.  (This art project was based on the book, Spookley The Square Pumpkin by Joe Troiano.)

Pete the Cat

Okay I am not going to deny it.  I love our Pete the Cat pumpkin.  (The one we made for the preschool raffle.)  He is so crazy cute and I was having a hard time parting with him.  I know our preschool parents are loving and would take good care of him, but I was really sad about letting him go.  So,  I took a chance and bought two tickets for the raffle and Yeah!!! I won him back for our classroom.  He is so much fun and we love to think of all the fun things he can do.
He loves his school shoes and knows his colors, but when he gets chilly, he doesn't have anything to wear.  So the other day he had to wear a friend's coat.  This friend left it by accident at carpool and Pete just had to try it out.  It was so funny!  The children are thinking of new adventures for Pete and you guessed it, Halloween is on their mind.  We just have to wonder what Pete would really be for Halloween?

Music Day

It was another fun day at our music class with Mrs. Sandra.  She always makes it so much fun and helped us get into the "Halloween" spirit by teaching us some funny little songs.  We LOVE music class and think singing is the "best."

Community Helpers

It was our community helper day.  We dressed up as some of those folks who help us in our daily lives and had lots of fun helping each other.  It was a great day and one of our friends helped us understand what it means to be a community helper by telling us about being a "super helper" at home.  We are so proud of all that we can do.  We want to do our best and know that we can help by doing some of the simplest tasks.  Even a smile can help someone who might be having a bad day.  I totally LOVE that we think God is the best community helper of all!
