Crazy Hat Day

We use any excuse to make each day a little more fun in our classroom... so what better way to learn about the letter H … crazy HAT day!  Some hats are big, some are small... but they were all really crazy for a Wednesday at the preschool.

Always Something Going On

This room is always at busy … working, playing & learning.  There are new things coming and going in centers … bookmobile visits and learning activities.  If you look at the pictures you can see us at work on the floor with puzzles and manipulatives.

This group of boys and girls really does work hard!  We are still practicing being "bucket fillers" but are doing a great job working together.  You can see on the stars and above!!!

Field Trip!!!!

It finally got here!!! Our field trip to the Corn Maze!  God blessed us a gorgeous day to walk over and check out this spooky walking puzzle and we LOVED it!!!!  There were lots of Halloween things to see in the corn maze and we had a blast running and screaming.  Thank you so much to the parents that helped us walk safely to and from Wingard's Nursery!

Cross Country Senior Year... In The Books

So sometimes I really have to just brag.... my youngest son finished his senior year of cross country tonight.  We are so proud of him!!!  I know this seems far away for most of you, but time flies when your babies are growing up! I must give a shout out to the River Bluff Cross Country team and their amazing coach.  It is an awesome program that cultivates independence, responsibility, leadership and friendship.  Thank you Coach Gomez for all that you do!!
When you see a team of 75+ boys circle up for a prayer before a meet, it tells you a lot about their team.  It is very powerful to see teenage boys come together for a prayer and focus on what is facing them.  God is at work everywhere, all the time and we are so thankful for this group of boys.  Emerson ran for 5 years... all the practices and meets.. We are so very proud of his commitment.

A Fun Art Project That Tasted Delicious

Many, many thanks to a preschool mom who surprised us with the most delicious art project ever.!!!  Cookies!!! And we got to mix the icing and decorate it however we wanted!!!!

It was so much fun and we really didn't make a huge mess!!!  It made our Wednesday over the top!!!  Thank you for this friend and her mom for taking the time to do this with us.

A Very Buggy Day

I never know what kinds of stories go home from school each day, but this was a "biggy" or shoud I say "buggy."  Almost every day when we head to the playground we have an insect encounter of some sort.  Sometimes butterflies, bees,  daddy long legs, or  caterpillars... but this day we had a baby grasshopper (above) and a pretty GIANT Banana spider on our playground.  Now the grasshopper is barely visible and I was sure it was terrified because of the children staring at it.... so I relocated it to the sensory garden.  BUT our friend below was on the slide!!! And you better believe it got a very loud reaction from our boys and girls.  Mr. Andy said that he had relocated Mr. Spider at 8:30 am that morning, but apparently it wasn't far enough.  When our class started to run and play a friend discovered this guy as he was about to take a slide.  Whew!!!! He called out for help and we closed the slide for the day.  (I am normally pretty brave, but this spider was about as big as my hand.... so we decided to let him play on the slide for the day.)  Even with our insect friends, we managed to still have super great playground day... but I had to share these pictures.

Fire Safety Rocks

Really... Fire Safety Rocks!!!  We LOVE it when the fire truck comes to visit and the fire fighters bring their puppet friends to teach us about fire safety!  (It is a serious and scary topic...so the puppets help us learn without really scaring us.)  We sang some great songs and saw a real fire fighter in all of his gear.  AND YES.... we got to see the real fire truck!
Thank you so much to the Lexington Fire Department for taking the time to come teach us about fire safety!!!
