Welcome Fall, Community Helpers and the Letter F

We will have a busy week with lots of work about the letter F and Fall. We will also talk about community helpers, including the best helpers of all - Jesus' disciples. Don't forget our Book Fair this week and family night on September 30 beginning at 5:30 PM. Books feed our minds and the students in our class love to hear good books. Today was a funny book day about "Froggy." We listened for words that start with the letter F. "Froggy" is so silly and we love to hear about his adventures.

Happy Birthday Johnny Appleseed!

"Oh the Lord's been good to me, and so I thank the Lord. For giving me the things I need - the sun and the rain and the apple seed. The Lord's been good to me."

We celebrated Johnny Appleseed Day by making a sequence about the apple tree and a puppet. We had lots of fun with apples, especially the story about "the little red house with no doors and no windows, but a star inside."

It is all about apples!

This is the week to celebrate the arrival of Fall, apples & Johnny Appleseed. We will also be learning about the letter T. We continue to grow and learn and have so much fun. You can see our delicious apple graph. We had lots of tasty fun trying the red, green and yellow apples. Even our friends who don't like apples participated.

We also made "Mr. Apple" and did all of the work - cutting and gluing. Some have long legs, short legs or some have none. Stop by our classroom to see our work. Mr. Apple is just hanging around outside of our door.
We also continue to try new things. Who knew that girls could like playing with "Legos?" (They really aren't just for boys.)

Our Bible verse this week is from 1 Timothy 4:4 - For everything created by God is good. We know this is true and see this everywhere. Our yummy apples, the beautiful change of seasons and friends in our class. What a wonderful week!

Feelings Faces

God loves us if we are happy, mad, sad, scared or silly. Check out our "feelings faces." We decided that it is a great thing for God to love us all of the time and that he forgives our "bad feeling" days. We had so much fun talking about our feelings and sharing them with our friends. We loved reading about "Little Critter" and his bad & mad days. It is nice to see how books show us funny ways to look at difficult situations.

Here are some of our happy faces.

Here are some of our mad faces.
Here are some of our sad faces.
Here are some of our scared faces.

Here are some of our silly faces.

We are a great class and help each other in so many ways. We know that we have different "feeling" days and we encourage our friends in our classroom.

The Letter I, Feelings & Manners

This is going to be another busy week. We will learn all about manners and feelings and the letter I. Today we continued talking about how God made us each special and how that made us all feel HAPPY!!! Take a look at some of our paper dolls and our cool class rules poster. (If you ask us, we can even act out our class rules.) Our bible verse this week is from Psalm 35:18 - We will praise and thank you Lord.

Here are some pictures of friends in our classroom. God shows His love to us through those around us. You can see it in our faces.

What A Great Week

We had a great week and will enjoy our Open House this evening. We continue to work hard in our classroom learning the schedule and structure of our day. The boys and girls enjoyed making lemonade today and even have special homework this weekend. (To tell their mom or dad how to make lemonade.) You can tell by our beautiful smiles that we love school and love learning. We also learned that everyone in our class loves to sing and dance. God is so good and we know that He brought us together as this special group for a wonderful year.

Friends in Our Class

We have been sharing our "Me Bags" and getting to know our friends in our class. It is lots of fun to share things with our friends. We did a great job listening quietly and being respectful when our friends were talking. Here are some pictures of the boys in our class being "good friends." We know that God made us special and that there is only one just like us. Many of us love to talk about Jesus and share his love with our friends.

Backpack Snack

Today was a big hit with our snack. It was a fun "welcome back" to school goodie that the children wanted to share. It is a neat combination of graham crackers, cake icing, M&M's and Fruit Roll- Ups. Many, many, many thanks to Mrs. Julie for assembling this yummy treat.

Letter L, All About Me, Family & Friends

September 8, 2008 - September 11, 2008

Our first full week of school is here. We will learn about the letter L. We will practice writing, saying and singing the sound of L. We will also learn about friends in our class by sharing "me bags." When we share ourselves with our classmates, we are sharing in God's love. He is such an awesome God because he made us each special - with special family and friends. We end our week with Parent Orientation and Open House on 9/11/08 at 6:00 PM. This will be a great time to show off some of our beginning classwork and art projects. Our Bible verse this week comes from the book of Matthew - Remember, I am with you always. (28:20)

Our School & Our Classroom

These are photos of our school and classroom. We love Pilgrim Lutheran Church and our Preschool. You can see our weatherman, who looks like a scarecrow, that we change as our weather changes. Right now, he is wearing our favorite college colors. He is dressed for back to school. You can also see our calendar, check in station and the start of our counting caterpillar. We do our morning circle on the big rug and Mrs. Laura has the comfy chair to read to us.

These are some of our centers - home living, blocks/legos and books. We also have puzzles, play dough, art, writing and science.

We had a great first week of school. We met our friends and preschool staff. We also started learning our classroom schedule and rules. Who knew preschool could be so much fun? Some of us are excited about getting ready for kindergarten, while others just want to enjoy the playground. We ended our week with the Pilgrim Preschool Four Year Old Olympics. It even started with a Torch Walk and Opening Ceremony. All of our friends in the other four year old classes helped make a cooperation mural. It is really cool. "The Lord is Great, Everybody Sing...." We are glad to be learning in God's house this year. Our Bible verse this week comes from the book of Hebrews - Let us run the race with endurance...(12:1)
