It was our Halloween Party day and believe it or not, we were so good!!!! Everyone brought their very best manners with them and, even though we were super, super, super, excited about trick or treating, we did a great job listening today. I will admit that I didn't have lots of time for pictures, but here we are playing pass the pumpkin and musical chairs. We also played pin the eyes on the mummy and throw the creepy worms in the jack o' lantern. It was a really fun day as we went into other classrooms and got some yummy treats to take home. Many thanks to our party parents for making the day so special with our pizza & fruit lunch and yummy sugar cookies for dessert. We also loved our special treat bags sent in by friends. It was a great day!!! Happy Halloween!!!!

Signs of Fall
It was a nature scavenger hunt...looking for signs of changing seasons. We had lots of fun collecting fallen leaves, pine cones, acorns, even some straw. It was a kind of Winnie The Pooh "blustery day" to be outside looking from some treasures, but we had a great time. These nature finds will be part of our art project this week...so stay tuned.
Show & Tell
Our first day of show & tell. It is always so much fun to share a treasure from home, no matter how big or small!!!!

Hmmmmm?
"While we try to teach our children all about life our children teach us what life is all about." Just something to think about on this beautiful Friday afternoon? Learn from your children this weekend. Although Halloween is next week, it is a time that is full of anticipation and excitement. As adults, we don't get to have such a free spirit, but take a little time to be inspired by this random quote.

The Cutest Little Owls
For our letter O, we made these cute little owls to add to our ongoing fall door art project. They are so cute and the children did a wonderful job cutting and pasting. Now if you can only get them to sing our funny little owl song. (Did you know that owls say "la de da di da....?.") For those who don't get to come in on a regular basis, this little door has turned out to be quite the attraction. We started with glittery leaves, added our funny jack o'lanterns and now our "la de da" owls.
Working Hard
Just to brag on your hard working children...look at this awesome hand writing!!! Aren't they doing great? We are really learning how to write our name for kindergarten with only one capital letter at the beginning and paying attention to size and proportion of letters. Way to go boys & girls! This is what Mrs. Laura calls "gummi work."

More Perfect Weather
Just another perfect day for being outside. Here are some of our smiling faces. (I am not sure why everyone wanted to have their picture made all alone today, but here we are.) It is just a good thing to be outside with friends from our school. Making friends is such a big job and we are doing it very well.
A Lunchbox Treasure
What a surprise? Every once in a while, fun things appear right out of our lunch box. (And I am not talking about Halloween Oreo Cookies.) Friends in our class have been getting notes in their lunch box and boy do they make them smile!!! This has happened since the beginning of school and I finally had my camera on hand to capture the fun. Mom & Dad you have no idea what your words of encouragement mean. These little treasures make memories that last a life time.
Pumpkin, Pumpkin...What Will You Be?
The pumpkin decorating process started with our classroom idea list about what things we could do with these perfect little orange friends. Now, as a mom, I thought they looked just right with their crooked stems and bumpy skins and really only needed a beautiful bow as an accent. BUT...I am not four years old (or almost five or already five.) This whole thing was full of possibilities and here are our finished products. We painted them and decorated them with fun, sparkle jewels. Some of us even added feathers, paper crinkles, and bows. This was a total child created project...except for the hot glue that I had to use to stick their funny faces on. We discovered that the school glue just wouldn't hold them on. I really love them and can see each child's personality in their little silly faced friend. The paint may look a little unprofessional, but it is done with "child ingenuity," so if your bottom is covered perfectly, that is how they wanted it to look. (One of us even said, "I won't look at the bottom because it will be sitting on the ground so I don't want to paint it.) I hope they make your "almost Halloween weekend" lots of fun.
Who knew so many happy pumpkins could live in our classroom? We talked about naming them all, but it was getting a little silly...so I'll leave that job for home.

Wish You Were Here...
What a gorgeous day! The leaves were falling, the wind was gently blowing and the sounds of these sweet faces were loud and full of joy!!!! It was a perfect "playground kind of day." I tried my best to snap pictures as we played, but some of us are hard to catch standing still. From the minute we make it through the gate to the very second we line up to leave, there is constant running and movement. The title of this post is so true...."wish you were here," because childhood is inspiring and this was one of those days that felt "just right." Can you remember how much fun you had on the playground? The only thing missing for me is a very "old timey" see-saw. Happy Thursday!!!!
Crazy Hat Day
Crazy hat day? What else would you do for the letter H? You can see that crazy, silly faces go right along with our hats. It was a fun day in our classroom as we finished our week with the letter H.
Who Is Spookley?
This week we read The Legend of Spookley the Square Pumpkin by Joe Troiano. (You may have the seen the video version this weekend on the Disney channel.) It is the cutest book about a pumpkin who just doesn't fit in with his friends. Want to know why? Well he is a square. It is a great book about being special just the way you. We loved it and for fun we made our own crazy shaped pumpkins to decorate the hallway leading up to our classroom. Some of our pumpkins are square, some are round, some are triangle, and one of us even made a heart shape. They are so silly and cheerful and we are so proud of our hard work. Spookley's little pumpkin patch reminds us that God loves us no matter what shape, color, size, ....we are! Thank you God for this amazing gift!!!!

Scarecrows In The Garden....
After two weeks, they are here...our scarecrows are finally done. It took several steps for us to complete this art project but we finally got them finished. They are displayed just outside our door, and will have new things joining them in the garden as the weeks pass. Stay tuned to the arrivals in our garden outside.
