Today we learned a little bit about politics. We held an election for the Governor of South Carolina. The children were excited to participate in this important political process. As you can see it was highly scientific. You just had to put an "x" on the person you liked the most. (I'm not so sure this wouldn't be better for us grown-ups.) Each child entered the voting area behind the screen and completed voting by folding their paper and placing it in our patriotic box. After voting, they received a really cool flag sticker and waited for the results.
We learned that voting is a secret process and that you do not have to tell anyone how you voted. (Even if it is your best friend.) We also learned that one day one of us might grow up to become an important politician. It was so much fun to watch the children experience the voting process. Now for the results - Congratulations Nikki Haley, the next Governor of South Carolina as elected by the four year old students at Pilgrim Community Preschool. We will have to see how will our election corresponds to the real event on Tuesday.

How fun for the children! I look forward to voting tomorrow and bringing the children with me so they can see how it is for the "grown ups". Thanks Mrs. Laura!
