100 Days Smarter!!!

It finally got here - OUR 100th DAY OF SCHOOL!!!!!  We were so excited.  We made some crazy hats to remind us of our hard work since that first day so long ago in August...

And then we had a 100 day special project with marshmallows & cups....

The boys worked together to build a 100 cup castle....
And the girls added a 100 rainbow marshmallow moat...
It was totally awesome!!!  We had blast and have loved our first 100 days of school!!!

Proud of Our Work

Classroom projects mean so much to our boys and girls and we have gradually been working towards "big picture" projects.  As the year has progressed, we have been slowly working towards connecting the skills we need for kindergarten.  Like how lines make letters, letters make words and how numbers can be added or subtracted to show more and less.  Well this week was all about barns and farms.  (And you guessed it - this is a classroom favorite.)  This little book we made this week was one of those "big picture" kind of things.  We made a barn folder for Old McDonald and then we made farm animals to go with the song.  We practiced writing the animal names and had to read along in the folders to see where the animals were to be placed.  The children were beyond proud of this little folder and asked to look at them and play with them.  They showed them off to their friends and practiced reading along with the song.  It is so inspiring to see them learn something new and to see their pride.  So I apologize in advance if you have to look at this book a few times, but indulge your child and praise them for their hard work. Being excited about learning is the most important ingredient for school success.

Here are just a few pages of our book - it is hard to believe that they wanted to do more, but our week is over and it is time to move on.  Learning really can be so much fun!!!!

A Snapshot Of Our Day

Just some pictures of the fun things that happen in our classroom every day.... above you see a sweet girl who made an amazing creation with some gears.... and below you will see a friend reading to his classmates.  (Yes we know he is reading from the picture clues - but see those smiling faces....)
 we paint....
 We play in home living....
We have an "internet cafe" - (well we pretend to at least.)
 We measure....
And we enjoy our hard work.  This friend is reading his farm book that we made this week.
Every day is a fun and exciting - and yes we always learn something new.  These little photos are a fun way to peek into our classroom and take a look around.

Morning Salute

We love the United States of America and South Carolina....and here we are saying the Pledge of Allegiance and the Salute to South Carolina.  We are very thankful to live in such an amazing place and have opportunities everywhere for our future.  It is hard to remember all of this when you hear about all of the craziness in the world around us, but goodness abounds!  These little faces are our future and who knows what kinds of awesome things for us in the years to come.

Doing Good

If you have been following along and coloring the days of "Lent," we have been doing it at school too!  There are so many things that we do to share God's love and fill someone else's bucket.  This walk to Holy Week and Easter isn't a fun thing to talk about but we know that Good News - Jesus does come back to us on Easter Sunday!!!! There is still a while before we get to color our beautiful cross, but hopefully our friends are doing good things at home too!  (This friend below filled everyone's bucket today by bringing this to share with our class - it is a picture of Jesus on the cross.  What a thoughtful thing to draw at home and bring in to leave with us.  Did I tell you how awesome these boys and girls are?  How amazing to see God at work every day in so many ways!!!!)

Counting Down!!!!

We are almost there - almost to our 100th day of school!!!!  We have been counting and counting and in just a few short days we will finally arrive at this very special day.  This means that we are 100 days smarter and that much closer to kindergarten!!!!

Learning About Farms

We had and friend's dad stop by our preschool on Wednesday to teach us about farming.  It was AWESOME!!!!  We learned what it means to be a farmer and saw some really cool pictures of farm stuff!  Thank you so much to this dad for taking the time to stop in and talk to us!!!
