Classroom projects mean so much to our boys and girls and we have gradually been working towards "big picture" projects. As the year has progressed, we have been slowly working towards connecting the skills we need for kindergarten. Like how lines make letters, letters make words and how numbers can be added or subtracted to show more and less. Well this week was all about barns and farms. (And you guessed it - this is a classroom favorite.) This little book we made this week was one of those "big picture" kind of things. We made a barn folder for Old McDonald and then we made farm animals to go with the song. We practiced writing the animal names and had to read along in the folders to see where the animals were to be placed. The children were beyond proud of this little folder and asked to look at them and play with them. They showed them off to their friends and practiced reading along with the song. It is so inspiring to see them learn something new and to see their pride. So I apologize in advance if you have to look at this book a few times, but indulge your child and praise them for their hard work. Being excited about learning is the most important ingredient for school success.
Here are just a few pages of our book - it is hard to believe that they wanted to do more, but our week is over and it is time to move on. Learning really can be so much fun!!!!
