Learning About Our Five Senses - Touch

This is a game called the "touch" game.  Since we have been learning about our five senses this week, it was time for me to pull out one the children's favorite activities.  The object of the game is to only use your sense of touch to find an item in the dome.  Most children think it should be really easy, but learn that only using one of your senses makes it pretty hard.  I think after we play they have a new appreciation for their sense of sight.  We are so blessed to be able to see, hear, taste, touch and smell.  Thank you God for our five senses.

We Love Preschool!

October is our class time for the big bulletin board at the entrance to the preschool.  Here you can see our really fun completed project!  We made these little owls to share some fall fun and, yes, we LOVE our preschool!  Each owl is labeled so you can find your child's masterpiece and enjoy the work of the friends in our class.  Our boys and girls did a great job with this art project.  Whoooo is proud?  I am!

The Cutest, Toughest Football Team....

Here is another fun art project from our open house.  As we learned about the letter F last week, we made these really cute football players.  I am sure that you noticed that our girls have fancy fairy wings because they are the "Fancy Football Fairies!"  They love pink and purple and just had to make this rough game a little bit "cuter."  Our boys, however, are tough and strong.  We tried to come up with a team name, but they were just too much fun not to share.  We have the following teams: Tough Ninja's, Clemson Doggies, Dinobots, Clemson Tigers, Team Scott, Gators, Indian Cardinals & Gamecocks.

Family Tree Art

If you were unable to make it to our open house last week, here is one of our latest art projects.  To honor Mr. Johnny Appleseed and his apples, we used apples to makea family tree.  They are all so different but a little bit the same because they all reflect the love that each child has for their family.  They are hanging just outside our door and will be coming home soon.

Another "Star" Day

It is only our 21st day of school and we are mastering so many new things.... like learning to tie shoes, put our coats on without help and putting our lunchbox in our school bag before dismissal.  How awesome?  It is wonderful to see these children build confidence by learning to do things on their own.  So many times our boys and girls say, "I don't know how to do that," but after a few times with coaching they get it on their own and the accompanying smile is PRICELESS.  I cannot tell you how many times I have heard a little voice say, "I did that all by myself," and a friend responds with "I told you that you could."  We work together and celebrating these accomplishments together is even better.  Thank you God for these boys and girls and for helping them have the courage to try new things.

Smiles = Happy

As the weather cools, our playground time gets that much better.  (Of course anything in the season of fall is better to me...and this definitely includes the playground.)  As you can see from these pictures - this day was no exception.  We love being outside and having "free play" time with our friends...and the gentle breeze and cooler temperatures make it just right.

Feelings Faces

 Scared Faces
 Sad Faces
 Mad Faces
 Disappointed Faces
 Silly Faces
Happy Faces
We started our week talking about our feelings....and, as you can see, we were great at showing off how those faces can look.  It was a fun day to share a range of emotions, knowing all the while that happy was underneath it all.  The boys and girls were able to talk about times that they felt happy, sad, excited, scared, disappointed and silly and seemed to really enjoy sharing these feelings with their friends.  We talked about how to help each other when it wasn't such a happy day and agreed that it is awesome that God loves us no matter which way we feel. By the way, we have a super cute class book that will start next week with all of our feelings.  This is one of my favorite little books and I know that you will love it too.
