Happy Epiphany Sunday!

On Thursday, we learned about Epiphany and the gifts brought to Baby Jesus by the wise men. We saw some pictures of frankincense, myrrh & gold...but only knew about gold. (And we were pretty confident that the gold item was a beautiful golden crown.) Things in Bible times sure were weird because no one even brought the little Baby Jesus a toy. We also spent some time talking about the types of gift we would share with this tiny King. (Look for this in a class book this week.) Epiphany marks the end of the 12 days and is the official end of the Christmas season. Here is a little art project we created to remind us of the journey of the wise men and the beauty of the marvelous Christmas star.

Staying Warm Again!

Another really cold day, but we got bundled up in our warm coats and ventured out to the playground. Here we are all lined up and ready to go. Everyone looks so "snuggly" in their winter coats. It is fun to watch the children play outside on cold days because their cheeks are pink and they are full of laughter and joy. Not once did someone complain about being cold, they just ran and played and enjoyed the gift of this sunny day.

Our Wild Rumpus

If you came in this morning, you helped your child read our silly question of the day..."have you ever been to a wild rumpus?" Please don't think I have lost it, because we celebrated the letter "w" with Where the Wild Things Are by Maurice Sendak. It was lots of fun to make our own little "wild thing" to help act out the story and even more fun to actually have a "wild rumpus" in our classroom. The pictures are blurry because you cannot really "capture" a wild rumpus on film...it is just too much fun...but we had a great time. Below you will see our friends with their own "wild thing" creations. (PS...We also discovered that these little wild things are great fans to cool off because having a wild rumpus can make you really hot and sweaty."

Hot Chocolate!

Since it was so cold yesterday and today, we had a special surprise at snack time...warm hot chocolate. Well it wasn't really "hot" chocolate...it was just lukewarm, but tasted so good on this cold morning. We even had a few marshmallows and a tiny bit of whipped cream to make it taste "just right." Winter is the season that makes us all appreciate a warm cup of hot cocoa on a very cold morning. Thank you God for this delicious treat!

Dress Warmly

As you are well aware, it was very cold this morning. Due to the wind chill, we did not go outside to the playground, but some of us were happy to show off new "winter ware" we got over the holidays. Staying warm can be so cute!

Really Glad To Be Back!

I know that anyone reading this won't believe how happy we were today to return to school. Who would rather come to school than stay home and watch TV? WE WOULD! Of course, preschool is the greatest thing to do, so we were really happy to come back. We talked about all of the fun we had over break and all of the really fun presents we got and we actually did a little bit of work. These little faces were shining bright and eager to get back to learning. It was an awesome day!

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year! Can you believe it is 2012? It is only January, but I can feel this year rushing by in a whirl. This will be such an exciting year for your child and your family. We will finish preschool in May and before you know it...it will be the first day of "big school." Just a reminder that we start back to preschool on Tuesday, January 3, 2012. Dress warmly, because it will finally feel like winter. I hope you enjoyed your holiday break and can't wait to see everyone!
