Since last week was so busy, we made some time this week to make our pumpkin muffins. This is one of those cooking projects that tricks the children because pumpkin, standing alone, isn't that enticing. It doesn't smell so great and the color isn't that appealing either. It is always a unanimous decision before the cooking even begins that this isn't going to be something that tastes good, however, after it all comes together, the results are quite surprising....
They taste GREAT!!!! Of course I did not fully disclose our ingredients but I think the "yumminess " has a little something to do with the box of yellow cake mix that is included in the recipe. I was really proud of the entire class because they all tasted the muffins and admitted that they liked them. I hope that you enjoy them at home. The recipe was attached to the tiny sample sent home today in your child's bag. (If it made through car pool without being smashed in their bag.) It is simple to make and your child should be more than willing to assist you in the kitchen. While preparing our muffins we spent some time talking about important kitchen rules. First, you must always wash your hands. Second, you never touch or do anything unless a parent or guardian gives you permission. Third, the oven or stove is always off limits...this is for grown-ups only. Have a great time in the kitchen. There is so much to learn when you include your child in cooking projects.
