Almost Fall.... Fun Times

We have been getting excited that Fall is just about here....because that means HALLOWEEN is coming pretty soon.  Our boys and girls are working hard with some "big school" skills like writing our names and using our best scissor skills.

Of course, we are still having lots of fun in centers and have continued to investigate the puzzles in classroom.  They do seem kind of hard, but if you take your time it is brain work and it feels awesome to finish one!
You can see we are working hard practicing our numbers....
There are lots of smiles and lots of encouraging words as we move further into our year.
And I can't forget that today was picture day for some of us.... (this was the day for pictures with little brothers and sisters downstairs.)  This our best smile...  I know you can feel the "preciousness" oozing from these faces.  (And yes I mean "preciousness" because they are!!!!)

BUT......we had to be just a little silly and do our best Halloween face too.  Happy Almost Fall!!!

What Is Your Favorite Book Character?

Today was our "dress up as your favorite book character" day.  You can see all of the characters we brought to school with us today.  Even Mrs. Denise participated with us and shared her favorite book called If You Give A Mouse A Cookie, by Laura Numeroff.  You can see we had a pirate, a dragon that loves tacos, a butterfly, a princess, a naughty rabbit, Curious George's friend with flippers, Pinkalicious, a fairy, a boy in the Navy, and a silly boy that wore a bag on his head to school.
We listened to Mrs. Denise as she read her story and even had a special book character parade for the other classes.  What a great day with our friends.  We love books and that is a wonderful thing because books help your brain grow!!!!  And since we talked about community helpers, we also learned that an author is a community helper too!
 Happy Thursday and Happy reading!!!!

MUSIC!!!!!

It's Back!!!!  Music With Pastor Josh!!!!!  We LOVE Pastor Josh!!!!  And no I am not exaggerating.  The boys and girls absolutely adore this special time to learn new songs, sing old songs and dance around while sometimes acting silly.  Pastor Josh does such a wonderful job teaching us about God's love while giving us a few minutes to dance around with our friends.  We are so happy to be back in music at the preschool.  Thank you Pastor Josh for sharing your time with us this year.

More Show & Tell, More Hard Work & Special Guests

More show & tell from our friends.  They are so precious when they stand up in front of our class and talk about whatever it is they brought for their day. (And it can be "whatever" because something small is just as special as a huge toy.)  We are fortunate this year to have a group of children who feel so comfortable with each other and don't get nervous talking in front of the group.

You can also see more of our hard work from the week!  There is handwriting, worksheets and a little reader about community helpers.  Take a few minutes to look at your child's folder to see what we learned at school.  There is a new class book that just started this week about transportation.  It is really cute and we colored our own car to take us anywhere we want to go.  We are so proud of our work and are learning to work a little harder than we did in the three's.  You can see some former students pictured below.  They stopped by to visit us and said that preschool days really are "the good ole days."  Big school has so many standards to address and things to teach that there isn't very much time to play.

New Class Jobs, Hard Work, And Another Birthday

A new week brings so much anticipation... "what are we going to learn about this week?"  I hear this every Monday and I ask the children to look around our room for clues.  They find our new letter on the board and have fun naming words that start with that letter.  We also draw our helpers for new class job assignments.  The job chart is still taking some "getting used to" because we all want to be "line leader."  (It is hard to learn that we all have to do things that we really don't want to, but that all jobs are important.)  This week we also learned that hard work means taking our time to do our best work!!!  Paying attention and staying in the lines is the job of a four year old.  Yes it takes a little longer than scribbling, but it shows everyone that we are proud of our work and can stay focused.    AND we had another class birthday!!!

Weekly Show & Tell Is Here

Weekly show and tell has finally arrived!!! And YES we are soooo excited!  You can see these sweet faces, so proud to have a minute to share something about themselves from home.  I love to have show & tell for our class because it gives each child a little bit of practice speaking to a small group. Some of us are a little bit shy, but as the year goes progresses, it gets so much easier.  I am really proud of this group for using their best manners when their friends are talking.

Konnichiwa

We had our first lesson in Japanese this week with our teacher, Bonnie Sensei.  The children were so excited to meet and learn this new language.  We learned how to say please, hello, goodbye and how to count to five.  It is so much fun to see them practice with each other.  I can only imagine how this got translated to you at home.
