Earth Day Is On The Way

Here is our sweet little door decoration for the month of April.  Since we will celebrate Earth Day at the end of the month we took some time to make a hand print Earth to help us remember that this is our Father's world.  We are so blessed with this beautiful planet and the many things that he gives us... animals, plants, trees, flowers, food, rain, sunshine, friends, family.....this list could go on forever.  Thank you God for giving us everything that we need.

Welcome Caterpillars

We welcomed three new friends to our classroom yesterday.  We would like to introduce you to R2Worm3, Sparkles & Ryan.  These are our caterpillars to observe for the next few weeks as we prepare for Earth Day and Spring Fling, when we let our beautiful friends fly away.  It is always very interesting to hold an election in our classroom, even if it is for something as simple as names for caterpillars.  We each have one nomination and one vote.  This is one took a little more time, but I think the children are starting to understand why this process is so important.  Welcome little friends.  You are safe in our room.

Library Day

Here is our cute librarian, Mrs. Cerese.  She comes to our school once a month to share a fun book and makes it so interesting with here funny outfits.  This week she read Big Chickens by Leslie Helakoski and I am sure you could sort of guess that by looking at her hat.  Our theme this week is barns and farms and this was the perfect way to introduce it all.  Thank you so much Mrs. Cerese for making books come to life AND for teaching us the chicken dance.

The Way We See Jesus

Before we left for Spring Break we did one of my favorite art projects.  We painted a picture of Jesus.  Not Jesus like we see in our picture books or hanging on the walls in fancy frames - these are pictures of how we see Jesus and they always inspire me.  I think that everyone has a huge smile on His face and one even has a curly hair and a "hairbow."  What a fun way for us to come back from Easter break - looking at the pictures of our Risen Lord.  Alleluia!  He is Risen!  He is Risen Indeed!

Our Easter Book

I hope that you found our Easter book in your child's folder this week. This is a little story book that we made to help us remember the Easter story.  You can move Jesus through the book to our favorite happy page on the back.  Yes, we always skip to that page because Jesus "escapes" the cross and comes back to us!  Happy Easter!

Resurrection Biscuits & Fun

What is a resurrection biscuit?  If you look them up on Pinterest you can find many versions, but basically it is a fun snack to remind us that Jesus is placed in the tomb, but when they open it again - HE IS GONE!   These little biscuits are flattened out and filled with a marshmallow.  They are sealed and sprinkled with some yummy sugar & cinnamon, then baked for a few minutes.  Much to the children's surprise when they take a bite - that giant marshmallow is gone!!!  Hence the name "resurrection biscuits."  It was a tasty treat that we made to give us a little energy for the bunny hop and hokey pokey.  What a fun way to end our week.

The Easter Egg Hunt

It was a great day for the Easter egg hunt.  The weather was a little bit chilly, but it didn't phase us one bit.  There were 84 eggs for the children to find, but not just any egg they wanted.  There were 7 eggs with personal information and 1 lucky egg with a lowercase letter for the match.  They worked together so well and did a wonderful job.  Yes, the eggs were not really "hidden" but it is pretty hard work to find your personal eggs.  Now I think it helped to know that the eggs were full of treats but overall is was great fun!!!!
