Are You Smarter Than A Leprechaun?

Many thanks to our key mom and party moms who brought in treats to make this day so "magically delicious."  Our key mom made us this awesome game to play at our St. Patrick's Day party.  You can see our little Leprechaun friend resting before he tried to answer questions correctly, but even though he tried really hard...we were so much smarter.  This game helped us practice all of the things that we have been learning in our class...going all the way back to the beginning of the year.  We had to remember important facts about Christopher Columbus and answer questions about the alphabet.  These boys and girls are so smart and such good learners, they didn't even get one question wrong.  They were also good team members because they let the Leprechaun have an extra turn to answer at least one question correctly.  So don't worry....these children are definitely smarter than a silly little Leprechaun and we think that he needs to start coming to our preschool to get as smart as we are!  The party moms brought in a yummy pizza lunch with apples and rainbow cupcakes for dessert.  Thanks a million for helping in our class.

The Leprechaun Hunt

We took our time and followed all of the clues, right to then end of the rainbow.  We found some yummy golden Rolo candies in the pot of gold and took a few minutes to rest and eat them up.  It was so much fun and even though there was glitter in the air, we used our very best behavior. 

Seeing Green

Green glitter and Leprechaun dust was everywhere on Thursday, as we celebrated St. Patrick's Day a little bit early. It was an exciting day as we used our learning skills to go in search of the Leprechaun's pot of Gold. You can see us all dressed in green as we prepared for our adventure around the preschool. The Leprechaun thought he was so smart, but we know our right and our left and followed those directions right to the end of the rainbow.

Weather

It was a very busy week in our classroom as we learned about weather. You should have found a blue folder in your child's bag that contains all of our "weather work." There is a weather graph inside for your child to track the conditions that they see outside of their window. (Of course, some of us are little confused from our dinosaur unit and think that a paleontologist tells us about the weather.  Meteorologist is such a hard word to learn.)  This is not homework, but it is something we do every day in class and they LOVE it. The other learning tools include a weather wheel, a weather flip book and a cool book about clouds. The water cycle is glued inside the front cover and I wonder if your child can sing the funny song that we learned about evaporation, condensation, precipitation, and accumulation? It is a catchy tune that always drives my husband crazy because once you hear it, you can't stop singing it. You might also want to ask your child if they can share the story about Randy the Raindrop. It is amazing how eager the children are to learn. They ask so many questions and are moving closer to kindergarten every day. Please take a few minutes at your house to review the activities from this week and ask your child to share what they know. Enjoy this beautiful weather and God's wonderful creation that abounds.

Yes, We Are Doing Addition

Here is a little learning activity from today.  Domino starts with D and we had some fun doing some domino math!  These children are so eager to learn and very smart!  We used the number stampers to make it a little bit more fun, but this little counting project was almost too easy for the smart cookies in our class!  (Don't worry if you don't see one of these in your child's folder.  Due to the picture schedule, some of us will finish on Monday!)

Looking Ahead

 Today was our cap and gown picture day.  It is always a day of anticipation because the children have no idea what to expect.  One friend has been sharing his dad's graduation picture with our class and this gave us an understanding of how special it is to wear this shiny robe and crazy hat.  I cannot tell you how silly they get when they first put these items on, but as they wear them for a few minutes I think they get the feeling that there this a big change coming in their lives.  Anyway, I was very proud of them because we wanted to make sure that a friend who wasn't feeling very well arrived in time for our class picture and did our individual pictures first.  (So for those of you who aren't familiar with cap and gown pictures, that means we had to dress everyone and leave them dressed until the very end.  13 individual pictures is a long time to wait patiently while wearing an itchy hat and gown.)  These pictures should make you feel very proud, because it won't be too long before "big school" starts and these innocent little faces suddenly become so grown up.

As you can see it was picture day.  Don't we look so precious?  I personally love our crazy face picture that is just above, but everyone looked so cute that I had to share my random shots from our time slot.  The boys and girls did a great job waiting patiently and we can't wait until tomorrow when we have our graduation pictures taken.
