Mondays are crazy... but in a good way.  Today we had more fun with a Kandinsky inspired heart painting project.  You can see us all taking our time to follow the lines and add lots of color without actually mixing them.  We also used big and little paint brushes which required extra concentration and use of our fine motor skills.  These hearts will be part of a special valentine coming home on Wednesday.

 And to make it even more crazy.... we had show & tell from the "Daddy Daughter Dance" AND light up wings from Disney!  It was the best of Monday Madness and it was super fun!!!

 It was a super busy week as we learned about artists and had fun with our own art projects.   You can see us having fun working and playing and even sharing a really COOL show & tell.  We worked so hard that we all went above the stars and to FLAG level!!!  This classroom is rocking along with some amazing behavior and hard work!!!

 

 

Love One Another

It is February and we are talking about Valentine's Day and love...

So here are our bucket fillers with the cards we made for some friends at the Lowman Home.  Our Bible verse this month is "love one another as I have loved one you... John 13:34..." and here we are loving folks we don't even know.

Family Art Night is Coming....

 

 

 

Our preschool family art night is coming up... thank goodness not this week... but it is scheduled for March... and for our class that's really good news.  Each class was asked to create one collaborative project for a silent auction AND  two individual art pieces based on a formal artist.  This doesn't sound like much...but it is really a big deal when you have 12 children who LOVE to paint and create...HOW do you pick just two art pieces for each child to complete.  It is very overwhelming but we are on our way.  You can see us here in the beginning stages of each piece and the children really are excited.  Stay tuned for an update from our "artists at work."

Dry Erase Boards ARE AMAZING

 

 

 

 

I found these dry erase boards at the dollar tree... (where all great things can be found)... and had a feeling the children might really enjoy using them.   And boy was I right... they LOVE them!!!!  We have been practicing our letters, numbers, shapes, and in general... just having fun sharing with each other.  Today we did some simple "art" type activities and shared them with other.  The children are always so proud of themselves and that's what I love.  We really do encourage each other and this is what makes our classroom so special.  This week you may hear your child say "art is from your heart."  And our hearts are so full of creative ideas... I can't wait to see our expressive paintings at the end of this week. 

A Busy Monday

 How can it be February?????  Really.... We are moving way to quickly towards graduation.  This week we are learning about the letter A and getting introduced to artists.  Of course we are all artists and pretty much anything these days can be art, however, we will be looking art some very famous artists and their work.  To welcome February,  we started our month by painting these really cool "Mondrian" inspired hearts.  Piet Mondrian was a very famous artist who used only three colors and & two primary directions.  (A very basic description of his style and my apologies for really "dumbing" it down...but we are only in preschool.)

 

 

Now... I will admit that I added the lines prior to painting, but the children did a really wonderful job taking their time and staying inside the lines.  I think they turned out great.. but if the children would have truly used their creative expression there would have been no blank space in those hearts.  This was one of those times when they really followed directions.  (Don't worry... expressive painting is in our plans this week and the children can't wait.)

Fun With the Planets

 We had so much fun last week with space exploration I forgot to take pictures of our class at work.  We learned my favorite "Planets" song and did these really fun art projects.  You can see our astronauts prepared for "blast off" and you can see our amazing space collage projects below.  It took us all four days to get it completed but they are so cool!  Each child created their own planet and gave it a name... so if you stop in the building take a minute to check these out.  You just never know which one of our boys and girls could grow up and be a famous astronaut or astronomer.
