A Happy Day

Pretty much every day in our classroom is a happy day... even if we have a few bumps in the road, it's okay... because we can talk about it and fix it.  Today, there were no bumps in the road, but there was feet painting that seems to make everybody laugh....

there were absolutely perfect playground conditions... (thank you God for such an awesome gift of a breeze and cooler temperatures.)

And there was lots of learning and playing in our classroom.  It is only our 9th day but we are having a great time coming together as a class family.  What a blessing to be working with these amazing children.

Friendship Cake

If you have never tasted a super fabulous specialty dessert called "friendship cake" you missed out again today.  This cake can only be made when a group of friends comes together to mix all of the ingredients with love and they all work together.  So you can see from above that we all had a really good time looking at the recipe on the box, checking our ingredients and mixing the batter until it was just perfect.  (Oh and the top secret ingredient.... a million colorful sprinkles)  Mrs. Kelli helped us get the cake into the oven and watched to make sure it was perfectly done.
Then we came back to our classroom and each friend helped put the delicious icing on top.  It was so exciting to each really get a turn spreading the icing.  (and yes we might have licked our spoon after we were done with our turn spreading the icing.)

So after we all had a turn... Mrs. Kelli added even more sprinkles to make our cake over the moon fabulous.  Honestly... what could be better than this masterpiece?  We've been talking about how God made us special and how all of our differences make our friendships even better... just like all of the colors of the rainbow are beautiful and special.  God is ever present and always amazing in the friends he gives us at school and our beautiful families at home.  Thank you God for this friendship cake today!

Chapel With Pastor John

On Thursday, we also have chapel with Pastor John.  This week he shared the creation story with us.  God is so amazing and we had a blast helping him teach us about how God created everything around us.  Thank you Pastor John for sharing God's love with us!!!

A Visit From The Librarian

Thank you so much Mrs. Amy for sharing story time with us this week.  WE LOVE OUR LIBRARIAN and all of the really cool things to bring to share with us from our local library.  She always brings the best books and has the best finger-plays and songs.  This week our books were about pets and they were so funny.
Well.... we also really LOVE the fancy stamps she gives us for being such great listeners.. this week it was sunshine that smelled just like blueberries.  Thank you Mrs. Amy for making our brains grow!

Not A Wacky Wednesday, Rather A Wonderful Wednesday

Okay... if you are talking about this teacher you could probably use the word "wacky" but not in regards to the students in this classroom.  It is only day 5 and we are well on our way to getting this preschool thing down pat!  We might be a little loud and rowdy (don't forget there is a special harvest full moon coming on Friday)... but we are such hard workers and good friends.  Today we had our very first Spanish lesson with Senora Kathy and we had our very first fire drill....but did that get us off track... Not one bit!  Our friends are learning how to make new friends and how to settle things when we aren't ready to share... but mostly we are just having a super time being in a four year old preschool class... because now we are the "big" kids.  Happy Wednesday!

Paper Dolls

Our Bible verse for September comes from Psalm 139:14 - "I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made..."  Since we spent our first full week of school talking about how God made us special, we made these really cute paper dolls.  The children had so much fun looking at each other's eyes and hair color, but absolutely guessed the identity of each doll without the first clue.  These are displayed outside of our classroom.  Take a few minutes to see if you can guess which one belongs to your child.

Class Books

Our boys and girls are smart and they are super hard workers.  And since we are such hard workers, we love to show off!  So... we make class books for our parents to see our work and to get to know our friends.  You will find a book similar to this in your child's bag about every week.  Take a few minutes to read the book with your child and ask them to talk about their work.  You will also usually find pictures of our class.  This is a great opportunity to help your child practice saying each child's name, looking for letters and getting to know our class family.
