Bye Bye Butterflies....

We had gorgeous weather for our big butterfly release day!!!!  Finally we had warm sunshine to see our friends off into the world.  Pastor Josh came out to teach us a super fun song about butterflies and then Mrs. Denise and Mrs. Jennifer read The Very Hungry Caterpillar.  (Although we seem to have all forgotten about how our butterflies came to us first as those furry, crawly friends.)

We all watched patiently as the net was opened.  Mrs. Jennifer had to coax these little guys out... because this big world can be a scary place....

But.... with a few minutes of cheering and lots of blowing from our butterfly & sparkle blowers.... they all fluttered out.  One or two might have stopped by for the children to get a closer look at their colors.... but quickly darted away.  (We sort of think it might have been Tom or Jerry or Batman or Robin.)  Either way- we saw a new creation right before our eyes.  Sometimes we have to work hard to find a butterfly on a difficult day - but this day it was super easy!  Bye! Bye! Butterflies!!!!!

Hi Old Friend

It is always so good to see smiling faces of former students.  It makes me sooooo happy!  I love to hear all about big school and the amazing things that the children are learning.  Many thanks to this mom who brought this beautiful smiling face by to say hello!!!

A "Rootin' Tootin" Day

Howdy parents!!!  We had our western dress up/"ole timey"dress up day.  It sure was fun!

There were lots of "howdys" and "yee haws" heard throughout the building. (And even though it was damp and dreary - you would have never known it.)  We had a great time with our learning activities this week, but are kinda glad that we live in today's time... because it is a good thing to have a car, a bathroom, and not to have to wear all of that crazy clothing.

Playground Update

We had to share a playground update.... new mulch was delivered over Spring Break!!!!  Thank you so much to everyone who made this happen.  We totally love this playground make over!!!

Japanese Dress Up Day With Bonnie San

Part of our discussion of "ole timey days" had to do with having a lesson from Bonnie San in traditional Japanese clothing.  She brought her very own kimono and obi to show us and then brought some clothing for us to try own too....

we had lots of fun trying these items on but are really glad that we get to wear shorts and t-shirts here in America.  Arrigato Bonnie San for sharing this lesson with us!

"Ole Timey Days"

This week we have been having fun with "nostalgia." or as I explained to the children "ole timey days."  Did you know how awesome an old fashioned ring toss is?  Or how totally amazing playing "jacks" is?  I honestly did not expect the boys and girls to love these activities so much....we've even been playing hopscotch.  So if you have heard them mention these activities, we really did do them in our classroom.... and yes, there is more to come.  Stay tuned for a little cowboy fun too.
