BUTTERFLIES

The real butterflies are here!!!  The came out of their cocoons over spring break and are fluttering everywhere in their net.  We are so excited about seeing how beautiful they are and can't wait to see them fly away on Thursday.  If you haven't had a few minutes to stop by, Mrs. Denise has them hanging just outside her office door.

Butterflies.....

As we left for Spring Break, our caterpillars were wiggling and crawling in their tiny plastic homes.  They weren't very beautiful, just kind of hairy and scary looking.  Some were just beginning the process of making their cocoons.  In anticipation of what those caterpillars would become, we painted some colorful butterflies. These paintings represent what happens after a long sleep in a cozy tiny silky home and they also represent what it means to be made new....Just like the Good News of Easter morning.  The children left our preschool on Maundy Thursday and we haven't been back together to share all of the happiness that came on that bright and wonderful Easter morning.  So as the children arrive from a week of rest and renewal, they will be greeted by these fluttery friends.  It is a week after our Easter celebrations in our own churches, but tomorrow we will share the Good News again!

Have You Seen Jesus?

Just before we left for Spring Break, as we were entering the saddest and scariest part of the Easter story, we painted portraits of Jesus.   Of course none of us have ever seen Jesus, but most have a definite idea of what He or She looks like.  I totally love these paintings!!!  They are all completely different and represent what each child's thoughts are on this matter.  If you are in the building stop by to take a look, but also take a few minutes to ask your child about this painting.  It is always so amazing to see how God expresses himself in each child.

Tom & Jerry, Batman & Robin....

Meet Tom & Jerry AND Batman & Robin.  They are our classroom caterpillars and we have been watching them grow a little bit every single day.  We have been making all sorts of predictions about what is going to happen to them, but we know for sure that they will be butterflies of some sort.

The question is, with names like Tom & Jerry and Batman & Robin - what kind of butterflies will they be?  We will have to wait until we return from Spring Break to answer this question.

The Great Egg Hunt

It was the "Great Easter Egg Hunt" and it was really great!  The children did such a good job finding their "assigned" eggs and couldn't wait to get home to see the treats that were hidden inside.
