A Very Important Skill

This is one of our most important skills in our classroom.  Can't tell from the picture?  It took us exactly 30 days to get this one down and some of us are still working on it - but it is sitting in your chair, with your bottom at the back and scooted all the way up to the table.  Not a big deal for you but for us it is a major milestone.  It tells us that we are ready to work, ready for snack, and ready to eat lunch.  PLUS it keeps us really safe because if we are sitting "crazy" in our chair and it is far away from the table -  we could fall out and get hurt.  We are so smart and are growing every day.  Even something simple like this makes a big difference in our ability to learn.  Yay class!!!!

What Do We Do All Day?

 

 

 

 

 

If you ever wonder what we do all day, well here it is....we play and we work.  Now we are even learning to tie our shoes. (Well we are playing with the box anyway.)  It is busy and a little crazy, but it is full of energy and excitement for learning.

And to help us keep track of our day, we have a picture schedule that guides us along.  Time management is a giant concept for us, but we all ask at some point, "when is my mom going to pick me up?"  For us that one is super easy.... we just look at our schedule on the wall to find out what is left to do before afternoon dismissal.  Then.... time for mom!!!!

What color is this?  Yes, we know our colors in Japanese.  Really we can say them all.  (Now who knows how they sound at your home, but we have them all down perfectly at school.)  Thank you Bonnie San for sharing "all things" Japanese with us.  Next week we will learn our first song in Japanese.

How Does A Pumpkin Grow?

 Since we have been learning about the letter J this week, we made a book to help us practice reading about the way a pumpkin grows.  (Because without a pumpkin, you just can't have a Jack O'Lantern.)  We even got to look at a real pumpkin vine and cannot wait until our pumpkins arrive at school next week for our pumpkin patch.We were really proud of this book and did a great job reading it in our classroom.

Autumn Leaves

 

 

Even though it hasn't been very "fall like" we have been learning what the season looks like.  We have found a few tiny signs that fall is slowly making an appearance, like a few colored leaves and acorns on the ground.  Here are the fun trees that we made last week.  The trees are all so different.  Some are tall, some have lots of branches and some are small.  Either way the colors are beautiful and we are very proud of them.

Christopher Columbus?  Who?  Very few people teach about Mr. Columbus but we had a lot of fun learning about his journey.  I mean they named a holiday after him - so don't you think we should give him just a little bit of respect?  Now we didn't go into all of the details of his discovery of America because the jury is still out on that whole thing, but we did learn about what it means to be an explorer and discover new things.  Our class relates best to astronauts as today's explorers.  Who knows what we will grow up to be, but if you ask me, these are the cutest explorers in the world.  Thank you Christopher Columbus for being brave and trying something new.

And it was an awesome day too.  We were hard workers, bucket fillers, and overall totally fabulous.  Tomorrow we are all going to try our best to get to the stars.

 Playground pictures with happy, "sunshiney" faces....These faces make this job so totally awesome and great.  Seeing smiles is infectious and makes every day great! 

 

 And we even managed to have a picnic too.  How awesome is that?  That makes a day great - lunch with friends in the sun!
