We LOVE getting Valentines!!!! The cards are so cute and it is great reading practice. You will find this fun little book in your child's bag. It is a memory book/scrapbook for you and your child to make together after going through all of the treats from our class. This is not homework, but a really cool way to keep those cards that your children just don't want to throw away. I started one last year and added cards from today. Your child will probably enjoy this little book and may want to add stickers or drawings. Valentine's Day is never quite as special when you grow up - so enjoy these fun times together.

More Show & Tell
Even after our crazy snow days, we finally got to finish our show & tell. Today we had a stuffed beaver, an interactive map of the United States and a Bakugen. It was a busy day in our classroom....(Japanese, a class birthday and belated Valentine's Day!)

Reading?
We can read! Here is our little book about space and we can really read it!!!! Our homework is to bring this little book home and read it to our parents and if they send in a note, a little reward is in store. They are so excited to move their fingers along and find words and letters. (Now they made some help, but that is okay! Work with your child to find sounds and picture clues to help them sound out words.) Happy Reading!!!!
"Yuki"
The first day ever at Pilgrim Community Preschool for real SNOW!!!!!! We finally got to put it on our weather chart and could not stop looking out of the window. How much fun is that? I can't recall a time in my life that I got to share "snow" with any classmates so this was a super big deal. The children were really excited but were so well behaved. "Yuki" is the Japanese word for snow and we really think it is "ichi ban."
Loving Our Friends
Valentine's Day is just around the corner and we have been having lots of fun getting ready for this holiday. Here are some pictures of good friends in our class just loving each other and being bucket fillers! Happy Early Valentine's Day!
More Show & Tell
We had another fun day of show & tell! Today we had a space ship, a beautiful American Girl doll and a Spiderman "walkie talkie." WE love to see the treasures that our friends share and use our best manners when listening.
Konnichi wa!
Konnichi wa! Just an update from Bonnie Sensei, our Japanese teacher. We are having so much fun in this class. We can count, name animals, sing "head, shoulders, knees & toes," and say our colors. It is truly amazing to see how much the children remember each week. In case you were wondering, February is "nigatsu" and "samuii" is cold. I know it is probably hard to use our little vocabulary sheet that comes home each week, but I promise your little ones can say those words with no problems. We are using the month of February to learn about food and will end this unit with a day to make sushi! Believe it or not, the children will prepare it and eat it. Learning Japanese is "ichi ban."
