Beautiful Hearts

Here is our February door decoration.  It was a fun new art technique that I found and guess what... I love them.  The children used water colors to fill in the little parts of our hearts that make us who we are.  I tried to explain to our boys and girls that each time you love someone, you get a new "little part" to your "big heart" and that the older you get, the more "parts" you get in your heart.  These little sections represent people that we love and they are so pretty.  The "little parts" are endless and God makes our hearts so big that we can love as many people as we can "cram in there."  With Valentine's Day just around the corner, I wanted to share these colorful ways to show our love.

Space!!!

It has been just a little crazy around our preschool.  With our days out for winter weather, we had to make some adjustments with our learning units and we finally finished "space."  (If you can say that because we all know that space is limitless.)  So here are our space collages.  They turned out very well and have a certain celestial quality.  They have some star nebula, a crater moon, a beautiful "swirly" planet and some real shiny stars.  Each child created this piece individually, complete with a name for their planet. ( Another favorite of mine, but each one is.  You just can't choose one real favorite when it comes to child created art projects.)   Stop in and take a look if you have a chance. You can almost feel the universe moving around you.  (Well, you can feel the creative energy of the earth in our little students using their imaginations to grow and learn.)

 

The Best Show & Tell

You can't really see it in this picture but this was the best show & tell today.  (Not that I'm playing favorites - but it was pretty cool.)  Our friend lost a tooth!  Yes, a real tooth - right out of her mouth!  She was so brave and she said it didn't even hurt.  She took that tooth and put it right under her pillow and, you guessed it, the tooth fairy came.  Just like we have all heard - "The Real Tooth Fairy!"   She came and took that little baby tooth and left a card.  How amazing!  I don't know but I'm pretty sure this is the best show & tell we have ever seen.  (And guess what?  She has another wiggly tooth!!!)  This is a great way to introduce dental health, which will be coming up in a couple of weeks.  Stay tuned for our ideas about the adventures of the tooth fairy.

Yay!!! It is time again...time for our best thing ever - SHOW & TELL!  Today was our first day in 2014 to share something amazing with our friends.  What a great job! 

We've Got Spirit

To help kick off the winter Olympics, we had fun with an art project.  We are proud to live in the United States of America and want to support those athletes that have worked so hard.  Who knows, one of us might grow up to be an Olympic athlete one day.  Go Team USA!!!!!

Penguin Babies

 

 Fun with penguins.  Of course we had lots of fun learning about these little guys.  (Okay, real penguins are smelly and gross - but they are so cute to watch.)  So to enhance our learning, we used some recycled water bottles to make our own penguin babies.  They have slippery tummies and wings for swimming and are just so cute.  The children could not wait to take them home. 

What Are We Up To?

 

 What have been up to lately?  With the craziness of the snow days last week, we are playing "catch up" but are having a blast.  Our brains must have grown triple size while we were out because we are doing puzzles, bringing in homework calendars and so much more.....

 

We even started reading!!!! Yep, that is what I said....the awesome book shown just above was a fun little book to help us with the letter Y.  It is such a great book about friendship, but it is also such a great book to read by ourself!  The words are simple and the children were so proud of themselves.  Of course we love the books pictured below too.  (Because they are about our favorite subject ....SNOW!!!)

 We are now getting more scientific in our play with Lego's and try to make them taller and stronger every time....

 

 

We are also making newer friends and mixing some of the old with the new.  It is so amazing to watch God move through these boys and girls as our year progresses.  They get taller and smarter but they also get so much more loving!  We are all working hard together to get ready for kindergarten and support each other in every little success.  What are we up to?  Sharing God's love and being the best that we can be!!!!
