Leprechauns Are Everywhere

These silly guys have been on our door since the beginning of March, but I had to post a picture. The children love these little guys and constantly ask when they can take them home. Some of us even named our festive characters and usually have to tell them good morning and good bye every day. If you haven't had a chance to see your child's decorations take a minute to stop by our door.

Our Love Grows Through Lent

Here is our cross. Our love is growing and covering up the black hands of the Lenten cross. The children are so excited and are focused on the good news of Easter. Each Monday as we add our hearts, the children talk about the Easter story. It is so uplifting to hear them tell each other about God's love.

Pet Show & Tell

Our "pet show & tell" week was fun. On Monday, we met Ladybug. Here is a classmate with her picture. He said that they couldn't bring her to school, so he brought her picture. He told us that Ladybug is a good dog and he loves her.
Today we met Checkers. He is a precious, friendly dog. He was fun to pet was very loving to the boys and girls. Thank you to our classmate and his dad for bringing Checkers to meet us. (Checkers even gave out a few kisses.)
We also met Jackson or "JBird." He is a huge golden retriever, but is so friendly. He also brought his toy that he knows as a "wubbie." We learned that Jackson likes to sleep with his family and eat dog food. Thank you to our classmate and his mom for bring Jackson to meet us.
Pets are so much fun. We talked about the responsibility of owning a pet and the different jobs that they require. Most of the boys and girls in our class said their job was feeding their pet. Some of us were very excited about pet week and one of us is even "rescuing" a dog this week. Welcome home to "Ben." He will be joining his new family on Friday.

Dr. Seuss Day

It was a week of celebrating the birthday of Dr. Seuss. We read lots of silly rhyming books, so if this epidemic continues at home - blame it on Dr. Seuss. The children did a great job with words that sound alike and had fun with a crazy hat and tie.
Between the two picture days, we somehow managed to also enjoy a "Cat In The Hat" snack.

Picture Day is Here Again

Parents don't forget that individual and class pictures are tomorrow, March 4. These will be taken with a live bunny. Wear your best outfits and we will do our best to send them home in the same condition that they arrived. Four year old cap and gown pictures will be on Thursday, March 5. Clothing is not an issue since the children will be wearing their "graduation garb."

"Book-It" Is Here

March is "Book-It" month at Pilgrim Community Preschool. This is the reading program that allows your child to earn a coupon for a personal pan pizza for reading books. The children are "super excited" and can't wait to get started. Many of them are trying very hard to learn to read and it is such a joy to see them get so excited about learning. "Book-It" is a program that adds another layer of incentives for reading. All of the materials will come home on Thursday - so start reading and keep a list. You can start sending in your reading coupons on Monday.

Love During Lent

This is our cross today. As we checked in for school, we each wrote our name on a heart and posted it on the cross. The children were excited to be covering up their black handprints and have estimated that it will take at least 2 more weeks to cover the entire cross. Ironically, each child put their heart over their own name. Our instructions were to put it anywhere, but they chose to do this on their own. It is very meaningful to have the children express their sadness about Jesus' death on the cross and for them to talk about what it means to them. As I said in the last post, we can never talk of the cross without ending the conversation with the miracle of Jesus "escaping the cross" on Easter.
