Penguin Buddies

 

 To help us learn more about penguins, we made these little penguin buddies from a water bottle.  Because the bottle is shaped "sort of" like a real penguin, we were able to study the shape of the penguin and their flippers/wings.  All of these make a penguin a better swimmer and diver, but of course, we also thought they were just really cute.

 

 

We also had fun with this little reading book.  It went home with our penguin buddies to help us practice reading at home.  Of course not all of us are reading perfectly just yet, but looking at letters for sounds and finding picture clues certainly sharpens the skills needed for independent reading.
