It's here!!!!! Thanksgiving learning.... my favorite time of year. There is SOOOO much to teach about Native Americans and Pilgrims and it never seems that I have enough time. Here you can see a friend making her pinch pot. (And for those of you who don't know, a pinch pot is exactly what it means... a pot that you pinch around the edges to form.) This is red clay and it was really, really hard. First you roll it into a ball then use a finger to make the center... then the fun part... pinching around the edges to form the sides. Of course ours are very small, but traditional Native American pottery would have been much larger. We made these to use as a table decoration for our upcoming family feast but cannot wait to take them home!
