Apple Pie Day With The Mimi's
Yes... each child really did make their own apple pie and no - I am not crazy. (well maybe a little bit.) To conclude our week of apple fun, I was able to get two local experts to come teach our boys and girls how to make an "ole timey" apple pie. You can see from the pictures that each child used a real rolling pin to roll out their crust (not homemade... so I guess it wasn't really that "ole timey.") Then they added their freshly picked mountain apples to the crust and used their little hands to pinch the crust around the edge. It was a great time and I cannot thank these two Mimi's enough for taking their time to share their cooking expertise with us. Oh... and to thank them for these delicious apples they picked for us on their trip last week to a North Carolina apple orchard. Life moves so fast these days and we don't have time to do the little things with our children, so I think this was a great day!
