Our Space Collage
Today we finished our space collage. They are so "cool". I have to use this word to describe this art project because it includes so many individual art projects on one paper "canvas." To begin we hand painted a planetary background, then we made a torn paper sun to keep it warm. As we learned about the surface of the moon, we created our own from a cool textured paste with some glitter and sand to make it feel just right. Of course no solar system would be complete without our very own planet, so we used markers and water to blend colors to make it "swirly" and fun. We added some final touches with stars and glittery swirls and "ta-da" they were done. Each child named their planet and had lots of fun talking about the kinds of things they would do if they lived there. (Imagination is such a wonderful thing!!!!) In this photo you can see "Fun, Fun Planet" on the top and "Pink Swirl Lollipops" on the bottom. I'm pretty sure I wouldn't mind taking a rocket to either one of these planets. Our collages our displayed just outside of our door along with our astronauts. Take a few minutes to look at these works of art and ask your child to share their thoughts about life in space. They have some great thoughts on what really goes on "out there."
