If you are not familiar with this fun book, just ask your child. We have an elf who has landed in our classroom. Usually an elf appears in your home, but our class is so special, that Santa sent an elf to watch over us. I was lucky enough to snap his picture before he returned to the North Pole to give his daily report.
The rules for the elf are as follows:
1 - You must give him/her a name.
2 - You must not touch him/her or the elf's magic will be lost and he/she cannot return to the North Pole for the daily report to Santa.
3 - You must not talk to the elf.
Well by democratic process, we voted and named our elf, "Tripp." (Of course, I use the word democratic loosely because the voting process was very hard for our class to comprehend - Especially the concept of voting one time.) Tripp will return to our class each day in a different spot and will silently observe the boys and girls at school. Since we learned that Santa is a helper for Jesus and uses Christmas to share his love with everyone - our elf will be watching to see how well the children let God's light shine in their own hearts. Tripp will report his observations to Santa each night. Of course our elf's report will always be great because the love of Jesus abounds in our classroom. Merry Christmas and Happy Advent.
