Halloween Party!

 

 Sticky spiders, fishing for apples, marshmallows, & spiders, making scary faces.....

 it was our Halloween Party Day!!!!  (And it happened to be on fire truck day!  This could possibly be the best day ever!)

 We had a super yummy lunch...

 

 and decorated our own cookies....There was yummy frosting and lots of tasty toppings...

 

 

 

 I think if you asked the children this was the tastiest art project they have ever done.

 

 Thanks a million to the party moms who put this together.  We loved every minute!  Now see our spookiest faces ever....

 

 

Happy Halloween!!!

Fire Truck Day!

 

 

It was "fire truck day."  This is one of the best days of the year for our boys and girls!  They LOVE everything about this event, especially getting on the truck.  Many thanks to the Lexington Fire Department for taking time out to come and teach us about fire safety.  The puppet show is the best and we loved singing all of those fun songs.

 

 

 One of the most important parts of this visit is seeing the fireman get dressed with all of his gear.  It is critical for the children to know that, although he might look and sound scary, we need to go to him.  The tanks and heavy clothes keep the firefighter safe and this is one day that the children can touch him and his gear to know that this is a person that will help us!

 

 

 We got to check out all of the important gear on the truck and even saw the most important phone number ever!!!  911 is painted right on the truck to remind us to call if we are in danger!  Don't be surprised if your child talks to you about having a fire drill at home or asks you to test your smoke detector.... we are fire safety trained!

Halloween always provides for some of the most fun learning!  Measuring with "bats,' examining our pumpkins, playing ghost & pumpkin tic-tac-toe, getting "booed" and having a crazy guest reader. Just a few fun things we have done to make this holiday special.  And who doesn't love learning under some of those cute candy corn friends?  We love Halloween!!!!

 

More Hard Work!!!

 Just a quick shout out to our hard working children.... Two more finished up our pumpkin math book and we did a crazy Halloween sort that really used our brains!!! It was a treat for us to do this... no tricks at all in sorting and counting.

Fall's Awesome Beauty

 

 

What a gorgeous fall day!!! It was just a little overcast but we took a walk to take it all in!!!  The children were sooo excited to see the changing leaves and all of the tiny treasures on the ground.  It's a good thing we gave everyone a brown bag to collect our treats...(if you watched any of this... we kind of looked like squirrels gathering our acorns for a long winter retreat.)

Pine cones, leaves, acorns, parts of hickory nut shells and even sticks were the most amazing finds...we had so much fun on our scavenger hunt.  NOW....to see what kind of art project will come out of this!
