Music Is AWESOME
I know I have posted before about music with Pastor Josh.... but I don't think I can convey to you how much we LOVE music time!!!! He plays the guitar and drums... but today he brought a "melodica" and a "didgeridoo." He always teaches us something new and gives us time to get all of our wiggles out! As you can see below... we get to crawl all over the place when he sings about slithering snakes...
and run all around when he sings about cheetahs and tigers...
It is such a blessing to have Pastor Josh with us to share God's love through music. Thank you Pastor Josh for taking time out of your day to sing with us.
Fire Drill
Today we had a pretty exciting event... our first surprise fire drill!!! It was loud and the alarm light was flashing... but these children did great!!!! They lined up speedy quick and marched right down those outside stairs to our assigned spot at the playground! Mrs. Kelli and I were so PROUD of them. We also stood in line in the mushy grass (soaked from all of our recent rain) and showed all of the other classes how it should be done! Way to go boys and girls!!! (And we haven't even talked about fire safety yet!!!)

A Visit From The Nurse
We had a visit from another community helper today... it was a nurse! She stopped by to teach us about germs and proper hand washing! It was perfect timing because we are just entering our cold and flu season. (Even though our preschool staff does a great job wiping down rails and door knobs...We can't keep sickness and germs out of our classrooms.) Our nurse did an awesome job teaching us about how germs hide all over our hands and did a science experiment with us. She gave us some "fake" germ lotion to rub on our hands. Then she used a tiny light to show us that there were tiny specks all over our hands... we just couldn't see them.
It will be lots of fun to observe the children throughout this process. We do lots of talking about staying healthy and this little lesson really helped them understand why it is so important to use soap and water to send those germs down the drain. Many thanks to this community helper for taking the time to stop by and for these totally cute treat bags!!!! There were lots of goodies in there to keep our hands clean and to make washing our hands really fun!
Then she taught us to sing "Happy Birthday" while we washed our hands in the bathroom. So we all took a trip to the sinks and did our best hand washing. As we came out of the bathroom she used that same light to show us that the germs were all gone!!! It was amazing to our children. She emphasized washing really good in between your fingers and all around your fingernails.
We also did another science experiment, but will watch this one at the preschool for the next few days. We used white bread and lots of hands to see how quickly germs grow... Right now all four of the bread slices look totally great.... but we'll have to do a daily report to see what happens.Juice Bars
Letter J is for "Juice bars." Yes it looks like a Popsicle, but if you read the package above it actually contains fruit and vegetables. (Did you get that? VEGETABLES are in these juice bars too!!!) You can see from these pictures that the children were "none the wiser" and gobbled these frozen treats up! They were soooo good!!! And the best part is these little faces had no idea it was actually good for them! Thank you to our snack mom that sent these in for us today! WE LOVED THEM!!!!
Rainy Days Are Still Fun
Rainy days are a drag... but not so much for us. While we can't go to the playground... we CAN go to the gym with the other four year old class and have some indoor play time. We also have lots of fun in our classroom and love our work too! It is okay if God sends us some rain every once in a while because our plants and trees need it to grow! Our letter this week is J - and this friend brought his Lego jet to share as his show and tell!!! These boys and girls are so smart that they plan their show and tell around our letters!!!

Pilgrim's Preschool Football Team
Here is our latest art project - our football players!!! I love the cheer that the boys and girls came up with- "Do your best, forget the rest.!" Our class did a great job cutting and gluing these together. If you get a minute stop by to take a peek at our team.
Chapel Day
Pastor Jay is back and so is chapel! We always have so much fun when we see him. He shares God's love with us and we share it with our friends. Thank you Pastor Jay for chapel today.
Happy Johnny Appleseed Day!
Yesterday was the first day of Fall and today we celebrated Johnny Appleseed Day!!! We learned that Johnny Appleseed's real name was John Chapman and he lived a long, long time ago. We made hats to remind us that Johnny Appleseed wore a pot on his head and had a "secret" apple taste test to see which color apple tastes the best.....(by secret I mean we peeled the apples and labeled the plate underneath, so the children chose their favorite apple by taste alone.) As you can see "Granny Smith Green" was our favorite.
Then we made "personal apple pizzas.' They were yummy and the perfect way to end to a rainy school day. We totally loved the fact that we made our very own pizza with biscuits, cinnamon sugar and fresh apples. Plus we had a secret ingredient - cheddar cheese. You can see from the "thumbs up" that we pretty much LOVED this tasty treat.
And we also made these gorgeous stained glass coloring projects! I think everyone did such a wonderful job staying in the lines and taking their time.

Picture Day Part II
The second day of pictures was just as busy as the first.... we did all of our usual activities, including music, and still fit in picture time in!!! You can see us at work in centers doing a super hard new puzzle!!! Focusing on some table work...
building with Lego's and finally for the rest of us.... we had our chance to smile for the camera.
Of course, it is really hard to wait our turn, especially when pictures take so long, so Mrs. Denise had a few things for us to do.
We even had time for a little dance party.
