A Bright, Sunny Day
It looked chillier than it actually was. We made it to the playground with coats and hats, but quickly realized it was not as cold as the weather man said. Here we are all ready to run and play. I should've taken a picture of this table after our first five minutes. The children were everywhere and their coats were piled high. We love being outside enjoying God's beautiful creation!
Watch Our Caterpillars Grow!
I don't know if you can see them very well, but our caterpillars have been hard at work! They have doubled in size in a week. Some of them have even started their cocoon. The children are amazed at how they work and will just sit and watch them wiggle around. Pretty soon we will move them to the butterfly tent to wait for them to open up into beautiful butterflies. PS - If you heard that we have a new friend in our room, you are right. Max took a tumble off of our bookcase and he is in the "hospital" in Mrs. Denise's office. Our new friend, Jermaine, is busy at work making new friends and growing bigger to catch up with Sugar Sparkles, Pink Jewel & Blackstone. Keep watching for updates on these wiggly friends.
Shh! It's Thursday....
It was a happy Thursday in our classroom, but it was so quiet! My allergies went a little crazy and I lost my voice. I wasn't sick, but I just couldn't talk. (well, not very loud if at all.) The children were so awesome. Because I had to talk so quietly, they responded in a like manner. It was pretty funny. I explained all of this at the beginning of our day, but half way through one of the children asked, "why are we whispering?" These boys and girls are the absolute best and used their manners. We were worked hard and played hard, but it was in a much milder atmosphere. Sometimes a quiet day is a good thing.

Our 100th Day of School!
We are officially 100 days smarter! How did it get to be our 100th day of school? It seems like we were just walking in and now it is almost the end of March.
We made some crazy 100th day hats and mixed up our 100th day snack. There was lots of counting going on all around us and some us even guessed that there were at least 100 raindrops outside. It was a super fun day and the best part is....tomorrow is day number 101! Who knows how smart we will be when we reach graduation?
Sushi Day
It was "Sushi Day." I know that you have been hearing about this for a while and probably didn't believe us when we said that we were doing this - BUT here it is. We really did make sushi today. Now not all of us tried it, but we all helped prepare it.
Bonnie Sensie set everything up and worked with pairs to show everyone how this is put together. I am pretty sure that all of the ingredients viewed separately looked great but some us weren't so sure about the finished product.
First we washed our hands - then we helped pat the rice on the seaweed....
Then we added toppings. There were carrots, cucumbers and sliced crab. Here is one of our helpers holding up the finished product.
Many thanks to our "sous chefs" who helped with all of the preparations. And many thanks also to Bonnie Sensei for putting this together. She comes each week to share her love of the Japanese culture and to share the language with us.
This is the finished sushi, rolled and sliced. We ate around the Japanese flag and enjoyed some green tea. (Okay - we tasted the green tea....Okay, some of us just looked at the green tea.)
Above are some of our friends who really loved the sushi. They were not afraid to try something new. I was super proud of everyone in our class for using their best manners. The sushi looks a little strange and we all did our best with this new experience. Of course, we really enjoyed the sweet treat provided by Bonnie Sensie. These little "cookie sticks," along with some Japanese gummies were shared as a "dessert." I wouldn't be telling the truth if I said this was their least favorite part because it was. Learning about other cultures takes a lot of time and we had fun today learning about foods from Japan.
Many thanks again to those that helped and especially Bonnie Sensei. She is not in a group picture because it got a little crazy, but I will make sure to post one later.

Dinosaur Stomp....
Girl dinosaurs or boy dinosaurs - they all pretty much make a stomping sound where ever they go.These little finger puppets turned out to be so much more fun than I ever imagined. Of course I had no idea that girl dinosaurs needed a "hair bow" and necklace. (Well - yes I did.) Here are our puppets that had some super crazy names. We did a super job coloring them and cutting them out.

Welcome Spring!
Happy First Day of Spring!!!!!! I bet you have no idea what this is. They are our baby caterpillars. We got them yesterday and we are going to watch them grow from these very tiny black specks into beautiful butterflies. The children suggested several names and we voted on these four....2 boys - Blackstone & Max...2 girls...Sugar Sparkles & Pink Sugar. It was a very exciting day and we are even more excited that we might actually get to go outside and enjoy the first day of spring on the playground!

Working Hard
It was a day of hard work - but the kind of work that makes you feel proud! We are so ready for kindergarten! We are doing so many things on our own and making our way to "big school." Here we are hard at work in our classroom.
