A Sunny Day

Wow!!!! God is so amazing and awesome!!!!  After all of the rain and really cold days, we made it back to our playground.  We were so excited to get back outside and run in the beautiful sunshine... and to be as loud as we wanted to.  Thank you God for the warm sunshine and fun playground days!

Space Slime

I'm probably the only person in America that admits to never making slime... but  that is no longer true!  Since we learned about space this week, I thought it would be pretty cool to do a science experiment... well at least I thought it was cool... the plan was to make slime.  (I quickly learned that most of the boys and girls in this class had this recipe committed to memory and the true experiment was actually making this work in front of them... and that is a lot a pressure!)  I gathered the ingredients, put myself on the floor,, followed the the recipe on my phone.... and guess what?????  It really worked!
You can see that we started with some super cool glitter glue... because it is space week after all.... and I stirred fast & furiously as the directions stated...then "ta da"  .... we made "cosmic" space slime.  It is glittery and swirly and kind looks like the swirling stars in space.  (and kinda like a toy an alien might play with.)

It really was fun and the children loved watching me try something totally new.  Slime is pretty awesome and super easy to make.  We also made cosmic pink and purple slime.. and you'll probably find a small container in your child's bag this week.

Donuts With Dads

It's true... we HAD donuts at preschool.... BUT it was for breakfast with our dads & grandpas!!!  It probably was our students favorite day of preschool so far this year!!!  You can see a few of our friends pictured here!  We LOVE our families so much!  Happy Donut Day!!!!

Gung Hay Fat Choy!

Happy Chinese New Year!!! It is the Year of the Rat... and that's not a bad thing.  Lunar New Year is celebrated in China and each year is associated with a certain animal.... there are horses, sheeps, monkeys, roosters... etc... and each animal is associated with lots of personality traits.  We took some time on Thursday to celebrate and learn a little bit about boys and girls from another country.  You can see our Chinese lanterns and lucky dragon masks.  It was so much fun and actually went right along with our discussion about Dr. King... because we are all friends .... no matter where we live or what we look like.  I think we all agree that Chinese New Year is awesome!!!!

One friend even let his penguin try on his lucky dragon mask!!!! So we all got in on the fun!

BRRRRRR! Ice Skating in the Gym & Penguins?????

YES!!! You can actually ice skate without skates!!!  And trust me... it's a lot safer and warmer.  (and quite a good work out!)  Thanks to Mother Nature's blast of winter.... we had an indoor week and had lots of fun continuing to learn about winter habitats.  We had a FUN on our paper plate skates and with penguins...
AND.... to make it even better... we made these totally cool penguin pals.  They are the perfect shape to help us remember that penguins don't fly... but love to slide on their rounded bellies and swim in the ocean.  Of course we had to customize our penguins with some winter gear... because it was just so cold outside here in SC.  BRRRRR.. it was a really cold week... but we LOVED it!!!!

A Snowy Day

Our January art...we called this a quiet, snowy day.  I love how each child's picture is completely different.  For us grown ups the quiet that accompanies a snowy day is such a wonderful kind of peace.  These pictures make us all feel kind of quiet... until we enter our classroom that is full of the sounds of learning.  Happy Winter!!!

Fun Wth Snowmen

South Carolina doesn't see that much snow, well really Winter... so we have to take our learning in all kinds of directions.  We have had lots of fun talking about the super fun parts of winter and expanded our fun by making these little sock snowmen.  It is such a blast to imagine making a real snowman, but we know that can't happen inside a classroom wherever you live... so these little rice filled friends are the best.  We came in last week to see them causing mischief in our classroom and some of them even left us notes.  And this week, we gave them names and included them in our play & learning centers.

Imagination is amazing no matter what your age... but it is so much fun to watch these sweet children with our snowmen in our classroom.  It is true that God loves us "snow much!"
