A Bright Sunny Day

Fun on the playground.  It was super sunny, but we loved it!  Here we are having lots of fun!!!

Learning About Native Americans

We are having a lot of fun learning about Native Americans this week.  They did so many neat things.  Today we learned about "wampum."  The easiest way to explain this to our children is to say that it was like "money."  So we made a "wampum bag" or "wallet" and found some really cool things in nature that we would have used like "wampum."

We also made Native American Headbands with our nature inspired names and had a tee pee snack with some graham crackers.  We just love learning about our Thanksgiving frriends.

Did you know that we LOVE "Pete the Cat?"  He is so awesome and he helps us learn so many fun things.  He is even teaching us about the FIRST THANKSGIVING.....

What is "Thankful?"

Thankful means being able to say a prayer and knowing that God is always listening.  We are so happy that He loves us no matter what and that the Pilgrims made that long, smelly voyage to America for this freedom.  We are thankful!!!

Birthday Fun!

I don't ever get to post birthday pictures because the days are always so crazy, but this was too cute!  This little friend had a birthday at school and brought party hats for everyone.  Who knew those triangle hats would be soooooo awesome?  We loved them and had a great time wearing them in honor of her special day!  Happy Birthday Friend!!!

Music Day

It has been a few weeks since we were able to have music class so boy we were excited to see Mrs. Sandra!  We learned some fun songs for Thanksgiving and even started learning our music for the Christmas program....BUT our favorite part was the "choo choo train song!"  We missed our music class so much!!!!

Guest Reader .....

We had another former student stop by to read to us!  He is in the second grade and his sister is in our class this year!  We are so proud of him and LOVE that he stopped by to share his reading skills with us.

Our Class Quilt of Blessings

Each week when we learn about a letter of the alphabet we usually try to find an art project to make our learning just a little bit more fun.  Well part of our letter "Q" fun a few weeks ago was beginning a paper quilt.   This project went into our theme of thankfulness and Thanksgiving and it is finally complete.  It is hanging at the landing of the stairway and is so beautiful.  To make our quilt, each child completed four squares.  The first was a paper quilt square with some scrapbook triangles.  The second was a nature angel on a square with a fall leaf we found on a nature walk.  The third was a picture of something they feel thankful for and the fourth is just a picture of their precious face.  I love how it all came together.    Here is a sweet little poem that goes with our quilt:  "With our hands we made this quilt, and we each made a special part, to show you the friendship we share, warms each little heart."  When we talked about being thankful we learned what it means to "count our blessings." I don't think we do very well with this in our daily lives because it is so hectic and busy, but this little art project sums it all up!

All Are Welcome

As we begin to learn about the first Thanksgiving, we see the importance of friendship.  (Or in our class we call this "being a bucket filler.")  Here are our Thanksgiving friends that we made for our door.  We will use them to prepare for our class feast at the end of the month.  Each little Pilgrim or Native American will be represented at our family feast.  It is never a surprise to us that all are welcome at God's table!  (Bucket filler or not!)  Thank goodness the Native Americans and Pilgrims were bucket fillers and worked together to learn to survive together is this new land!  Stay tuned for more Thanksgiving Fun!!!!

Fall Beauty

You cannot help but notice these amazing trees around our preschool.  The colors are so vibrant and beautiful.  The children in our class cannot walk past a window without saying, "I see fall leaves."  God is so good!  He never stops surprising us with the beauty of His creation.  His love truly abounds!!!

Fun With Turkeys

Another fun art project - turkeys!!!!  It is that time of year and we couldn't start learning about Thanksgiving without talking about turkeys!  Here are our "gobble, gobble" good friends.  They are greeting our friends as they come up the stairs to our classroom and yes we really do have a "gobble, gobble good time at Pilgrim Preshool!!!!!"

Just A Playground Day....

No words for these pictures - just some pictures from our playground time.  We run and play...sometimes we sit and talk....but no matter what....we are having fun!

Classroom Fun

It was a great week in our classroom!  (I know I say that every week!!!!) We learned about the letter c and counting our blessings.  Our theme to start our Thanksgiving fun was "thankfulness."  I can say, from the bottom of my heart, that I am truly thankful for these boys and girls.  They are learning and growing up so much.  We LOVE to work together at the tables and on the rug!  We did a great job working together to do this alphabet puzzle.  (No - it wasn't too hard!)
And to end our week, we made some yummy chocolate chip cookies!  Talk about counting your blessings....we loved this yummy treat and the best part....we made them our self!

We Are Thankful

As we move into the Thanksgiving season, we made these beautiful fall trees!  The children colored the trees and added some crazy q-tip art and buttons for leaves.  They represent all of the things that we are thankful for.  I LOVE this art project.  Each tree is beautiful and unique!  They are hanging just outside of our door.  We are young but we can talk about our many blessings, especially our family and friends.
